Location: Central Massachusetts | Considering Mark In Boise's Official Guitar Justification System (Registered Trademark), why not commemorate other occasions with your guitar purchases? And why limit yourself to the year the guitar was produced? The model number itself is fair game! Observe...
Buy: To commemorate:
1537 The Spaniards bring the potato to Europe
1771 Emperor Go-Momozono ascends to the throne of Japan
1773 America's first insane asylum opens for 'Persons of Insane
and Disordered Minds' in Williamsburg, Virginia
1777 Stars and Stripes adopted by the Continental Congress as
the Flag of the United States
1778 France introduced the first state-controlled brothel
1861 The HMS Warrior, the world's first ocean-going (all) iron-
hulled armored battleship was completed and commissioned.
1624 Mail service begins in Denmark
U681 The Bulgars win the war with the Byzantine Empire; the
latter signs a peace treaty, which is considered as the
birth-date of Bulgaria
1187 Zen Buddhism comes to Japan
Even model numbers "in the future" can be commemorated!
Buy: To commemorate:
2077 100 year anniversary of the television miniseries "Roots"
2078 200 year anniversary of Thomas Edison's patent for the
phonograph
2079 2000 year anniversary of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius
which destroys Pompeii and Herculaneum
2080 will be my 80th wedding anniversary
You will have to get especially creative as the model numbers climb...
Buy: To commemorate:
6778 5000 year anniversary of France introducing the first state-
controlled brothel
See, it works!
If I've missed your favorite model, feel free to add to the list!
Good luck with those new purchases! |

I know what doesn't work: "You think I'm sick? You should see how many Ovations Dave, or Stephen or Tony etc. has." The list of names used to be longer, but we found out I'm sicker than most. |

The British didn't even discover the east coast of Australia 'til 1770.
I guess 1768 could go down in history as 'first plans drafted to discover new continent.' |

Location: Boise, Idaho | You are just incredibly perceptive, Jeff. You should be a marriage counselor. I don't recall much good advice on the Number 1 Question, back then: "How do I convince my wife that I deserve another Ovation?" If I just bragged about how my wife just bought me another Ovation, you guys wouldn't believe me.
She has written the check for several of them, however. The 30th Anniversary story worked quite well. You ought to try it. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | You know, I don't think she's complained since the Northwest Gathering last August. I'm sure it wasn't the great T-shirt with my likeness on it. It might have been that my daughter and I left there with our Os and sang B.J. Thomas' "Momma" for my mother's 80th birthday party. The ladies fall for even the simplest song with the right lyrics. |
