If anyone isn't aware, Jerome has an outstanding website...check it out web page

Jerome even sends out a nice newsletter...all you need to do is register.

He is also compiling a list (with pictures) of the 47RI's.

He has # 3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 23, 24, 33, 34, 35, 42,and 47.

As the owner of # 3, I wonder where are # 1 and # 2??

Tony, take yours over to the Town and Country resort today and loan it to my wife so she can bring it back here for me to try out. I'll return it when I get to San Diego next year.

They may be all spoken for from a dealer's standpoint but I don't believe they are all sold yet.

Production seems to be in the 50's (sn) but it might be in the 60's by now.

I know where a couple are still available (as of yesterday), if interested.

I believe Al has a few 47RI's coming in that are not yet spoken for. Contact him for details. As a lucky owner of one of these instruments I can tell you that you will be very disappointed if you pass up the opportunity to own one. Who knows what the future will bring ...

I second what Dave said... a truly amazing instrument. And getting it from Al couldn't have been any more pleasant (well... he could have tried to have the construction done when I went to pick it up... ).

As I said a couple of weeks ago, I was in Phoenix and played (and tuned) almost all of Tup's guitars. Even with the high end Martins he has (and they are wonderful guitars), I kept coming back to his 47 of 47. They are that good....

Musiciansfriend,Music123, and others - when they have no assurance of delivery, they will project availability; they will take your order but there is no guarantee...and, in the case of the 47RI, by the time you know...you won't be able to get it elsewhere. Your gamble.

We already know of a couple of dealers that took deposits and will be unable to deliver.

#6...my lucky number is the one I would have killed for. I also wonder where it ultimately ended up.

You would think that John or Kim could tell us at least where #1 & 2 initially shipped.

Why should John & Kim tell anybody about who bought a guitar? If I buy a guitar, it's my decision to tell people I bought it... not the factory's.

You both misunderstood. I was referring to which "DEALER" received #1 & 2.....unless the factory has a policy of selling direct to consumers, the factory would have no way of knowing who bought them anyway, unless registered.

Technically speaking, I think John and Kim can tell you by model and serial where any guitar was first sold to, and when it was produced. At least, that's what I was told when I checked on one earlier this year.

It's horrible...I've avoided the temptation of a #47 several times...and it always comes back!

Speaking of model number lists as signature lines ... I loved what some O-basher (who obviously lurks on our board) wrote on the Martin board awhile back. I paraphrase ...

"And what's with these signature lines? It's like they opened up the tupperware cupboard and decided to post the inventory as their signature".

THAT'S CLASSIC. Dave

For the record my cupboard holds the Reynolds, Glad and No-name containers from the sliced lunch meats.

No model numbers and the lid to container match up possibilities are still endless...

Not sure where this is going...to summarize:

As we know, there is a list of the original slotheads...at least as complete as known. Interesting.

Sure, Customer Service has records of who registered a guitar for warranty (for internal use). Understandable that this information is not for general use.

Jerome has an excellent project going for those that volunteer. Counting Hawaii, U.S. and France aren't doing bad. Nice touch to have the owner's photo...sometimes showing a flavor of their homeland.

Even Dave's site has some OFC'ers who don't list the serial number.

For those that don't want to...fine. Not that big of a deal, just fun.

It's hopeless, Andrew. When I first started here, I thought 1537s were the must have, then it was the 87 Collector's, Utes, the 05 Collector's etc. As hard as I've tried, I just can't keep up with this crowd.

I may be in the minority here, but the fact that the 47RI is only acoustic is the reason I'm resisting a leap into the fray. God knows I love wall hangers as much as the next guy, probably more so, but this is just too much money and too much guitar to spend most of its time on the wall. In my studio, it would never be played as frequently as those that I can plug in. Accordingly, I prefer leaving the remaining units to those of you who appreciate and enjoy playing unplugged. Now, if the factory was to add electronics to the 47RI similar to many of the original slotheads . . .

There are at least a few people who are putting electronics in their 47RI's (after taking delivery). It can be done. A nice under saddle pickup and out the end pin. FD14 electronics might be another option. Dave

Ok, so would this make #47 of the 47RI family technically a 1687-247?
How much to reprint the label, have Bill sign it all over again then stick it in the middle out of sight?

Ya know, I didn't want to believe that Dave would actually have a set of holes drill into a 47RI.
But then I thought, Tupp would make him do it and StandingO would say "Do it Dave, you wuss, what are ya...scared"

That's EXACTLY why I didn't jump on one. At one point, I had my finger on the trigger to a 47RI, and only resisted based on the fact that 95% of the time I play amped, and putting out $3000+ for a guitar that's not internally amp-able was something I just could not justify.

Now a custom order though... :D

Dave, What's up?
You usually go for removing the electronics to recapture the full acoustic tone.

Or are these the premier of your new line of Stick-On Knobs?

I am proud of you Cliff! Doesn't it feel good knowing that you could have... but didn't?

Pics of the 47-RI #013 are now on the site.

#34 is in France and I'm waiting for pics from the owner who's contacted me last month.

And #32 seems not to be sold yet and is in a music shop in south of France... ;)

So, counting Quebec, that's seven for France; four for U.S.

Another one of my friend in France is waiting for his #47 in December...
It's a very nice Christmas gift isn't it!!! ;)

I'm sure that there's much more #47-RI in USA but it's easier for me to call all the models in France.
The French O's community is very small and everybody knows everybody.
That's why at this time, I've got more info from France than from other countries.

J :)

There's no pickup or electronics, Dave stuck 'em on with tape just to yank a few chains. Seems to be working!

What? ME pull chains? Surely you are joking ...

I was lamenting what the OFC guitar might have been, and wondering how it would have looked. Ah well ... An by the way, Mr. Professor it's not SCOTCH tape, it's IRISH tape. Requires strong alcohol to get off.
