...love the tone and body, but the "raw" neck and lack of fret markers are "demerits" in my book. |

Location: SoCal | I am a fan of the whole EA line. I have numerous EA68s. I also have one each of the nylon, bass, 12-string. I like the necks and understated features. The Book Viper has more bling. |

Location: Tennessee | I have a six string and a bass. I personally like the raw neck and the fret markers on the neck binding are fine for me. Both are keepers for me. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | I just picked one up a few months ago. I really appreciate the thin body size when playing while standing. It feels close to the size of a solid electric. Mine is tiger flame and it gets a lot of attention. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | OTM, do a search on Book, but it might be too broad. Ovation did a set of Elites, Vipers, Mandos and maybe others in 1996. The "Book Elite" was on the cover of Carter's book, I think it was called The History of Ovation. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | OFC member Dan Schafer uses an EA68 Viper in his gigs and was looking for more of the same model a while back. He posted a number of pics of himself playing his Viper on stage while backing up Shania Twain, among others. Nice work if you can get it. |

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | We're not positively sure what the finish is, but several knowledgeable members suggest that it is a VY code, meaning Vintage Sycamore, which is bright orange with a slightly darker burst toward the edges. Whatever it is, the flame stands out remarkably. |

Location: boulder | Professor i saw the one you bought off ebay, (well I think). It looked orange to me :D
I have a blue tamo viper ??? and a book viper. I believe there were less then 30 of each of these made. they both feel like an electric, sound like an acoustic.
As for finishes. I have also seen recently the blue/yellow flame design on a viper ea-68. so that's natural, blue tamo, orange (vintage sycamore-if you must), flame design...peace, mike |

Location: Scotland | My main money-earners right now are an EA68 and EA63. When I use my own PA or know the venue or sound engineer I'll use a "real" acoustic Ovation, but for everything else the Vipers are just total problem solvers. Plug into anything, regardless of component quailty or sound engineer incompetence and it's impossible to get a bad sound. Mine are just the shitty black finish versions, but I guess the fancy finishes must sound a lot better. |

...I also "see" the up-graded binding too.
...I assume they're all EA68 models and not CV68 models, correct? |

Location: Isle of Man, UK | Same as Noah's pic above. I first learned on a nylon, and lived for too long without one until I saved for the viper. Not sure it'll ever get gigged out, unless I suddenly land a coffee-house gig, but you've gotta have a nylon string in there somewhere!
