Nice job Mike. That's about the nicest looking strat I've seen. Seeing the side-by-side with the 1271 though confirms my original impression - the old Vipers had TONS of neck on them! |

Location: PDX | That looks really sweet Mike! I really like the looks of the ebony against the natural wood.
How does she sound?

Location: Upper Left USA | Last night the strings went on and I started the bridge and neck adjustments while everyone else was tucked into bed. I plugged in long enough to make sure that it worked but had to keep it low. The relief is settling in.
I don't expect tremendous from the pickups because the whole body assemply only ran about $80. Fender tuners and string trees from ebay as well as the Koa veneer.
The neck is from one of the Founder/Moderators over at www.ProjectGuitar.com which has some excellent tutorials and a gnarly bunch of custom Guitarmakers.
If you stalk my ebay feedback (fishgiven) you can see the sources of the goodies.

Location: PDX | Again: that is really a classy looking strat. Once you get it fine tuned, i'd like to know your final assessment of the project.
I can't get over how stunning that ebony over natural looks.

Location: Houston, Texas | That's not really an ebony fingerboard is it? It looks alot like the very dark rosewood on my '76 Strat, which is almost as dark as the ebony on my Limited Edition Les Paul.

Location: PDX | Well then: that dark rosewood really looks striking agianst the natural body -- unless it's bondo or something.

Location: Upper Left USA | The body on the Fleabacaster is Alder but it has a real bondo smooth coat and gloss. It more closely resembles Mustard with some faux striping.
No doubt its a Pacific Rim product.
Half the weight of the Vipers. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | My company issued a new "anti-harrasment policy". Added to the list of forbidden acts are 1) "making fun of foreign accents" and 2) "undressing with eyes". I swear that's a direct quote from the policy.
So, the first one is pretty clear. OK to poke a little humor at rednecks or texans, but lay off of the IT department. The 2nd one is a little vague. I emailed the HR department and asked if this only applied in the second person, because quite often I like to sit through management meetings and undress MYSELF with my eyes just for the hell of it.

I knew a guy who's wife said she wanted him in the worst way.
So he turned on all the lights before undressing. |
