Location: Snåsa, Norway | I've checked the ovation price history and see that my 1619-4 Custom Legend costed $800 in 1975 and was top of the Ovation line (in price) at that time. Does anybody know how rare this guitar is, and what other guitars from the same time it would be compared with. I came by mine more or less by coincidence 18 years ago. I was looking for a good steelstring with 3000 norwegian kroner in my pocket when I got this beauty in my lap. I fell in love at once, the looks, the sound and the feel was just right. So i broke my budget by 100 % and bought it and have not regretted for a minute yet! |

Location: CT | Yes, if the middle stripe is dark. Sometimes you see a 5 piece neck with 3 plys of maple in the middle. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | I recall they were usually 3 ply of maple, just the middle one had the grain running 90 degrees opposite. |

Location: Snåsa, Norway | On mine it looks like it's three maple plies, but the middle one is light at the neck joint and darker up the neck towards the headstock. There's some cracks and blems in the finish on the centre strip, so i can't say how much of the colour difference is due to the wood. |

Location: CT | If they are almost the same color, it will be 3 maple stripes....
If the inside stripe is the same color as the rest of the neck, 2 maple and one mahogany stripe.
