One of the preeminent and most influential singer-songwriters of the 1970s, James Taylor has remained unsurpassed as a musical craftsman, with an enduring popularity that is the hallmark of a superstar. On February 6, 2006, Taylor was honored by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences' (the host organization of the Grammy Awards) MusiCares program as "Person of the Year" in recognition of his musical achievements and philanthropic commitment to the arts as well as environmental and humanitarian causes. The all-star line-up of performers participating in the gala concert includes Jackson Brown, David Crosby, Sheryl Crow, Dr. John, Carole King, Alison Krauss, Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Keith Urban and more. |

First, last, and only time I saw JT live was Saturday, September 15th, 2001. Somehow he and his crew were able to make it to Portland for the show. And somehow the friends we were going to the show with managed to rent a van and drive back from a business trip in Florida in time for the show.
Truly an amazing concert. Very emotional and cathartic. I don't think I could bring myself to go to another of his shows as I just don't see how he could recapture the power of that set.

Location: Cherry Hill, NJ | I first saw JT at Carnige Hall in 1969, with Carol King, playing piano. Up until then all I played was electric guitar. Following his concert, I went out and bought my first acoustic, a Guild D-45, which I still have. I've always admired his guitar playing ability. He plays it like a grand piano, bringing out sounds rarely heard before he came on the scene. He probably did more for acoustic guitar sales, than anybody in his day. |

| Yes, I saw an advertisement for this on 50 televisions at Costco. Springsteen has a sweet looking Takamine 12 string. I was trying to find out what model it is. I've seen the boss play in concert 4 times, and I don't recall him ever playing a 12 string. If anyone figures out the model please let us all know. |

Location: Cicero, NY | Saw JT twice and both times he was just outstanding. The second time, it was a very cold night out and it was an outdoor concert and he would play two - three songs and pick up a hand warmer for a few minutes so he could keep playing. I don't know how he did it but he felt bad about "cheating the audience" (for the time he had to warm his hands) he kept on playing well beyond when he was supposed to get off. And I'm not talking about the "Clap for 10 minutes so I know you want me" encores - he played continuously and was great. We were ready to start a fire in the seats it was so cold but he kept on playing. Beyond being a real talent, he's always been a true professional. |

| The 12 string I recall seeing was a sunburst/honeyburst. I didn't see anything close to it on the takamine website. |
