I'll endorse GuitarVision as well. The transcription seems very accurate to me. It is a pretty flexible program that allows you to loop small portions to learn a difficult part, and it can be slowed down.

I would rate it as being as valuable as tabs or sheet music, but in a different way. It isn't as easy for me to learn complex passages as using sheet music and/or tab, but on the other hand it is great for getting the rythms correct, which is harder using sheet music or tab.

It does take a fair amount of processing power, though. On my laptop it gets a bit weird if there's much else running.
