My son seems to have fallen a long way from the tree. Oh where, oh where did I go wrong? Was it something I did in a past life? Maybe my wife forgot to tell me about an affair she had and he's not really mine? Might be time for intervention. He wants a BANJO for Christmas. I tried to explain about what a dangerous instrument it is, banjo players get shot all the time, but he doesn't seem to care. I guess my best bet is to try and find a nice one that's not too expensive so when he does come to his senses, I won't be out a lot of money. Can anybody help? I'm looking for a starter banjo.

Fender makes one for about $400. that doesn't seem half bad.

I've got an extra Mel-Bay banjo chord book. Let me know if you want it and shoot me your address.

Kids just have to rebel.
That's how they learn to seperate themselves from their parents.
To bad he has taken up with the banjo rather than the much safer drug or alcohol route. I'M KIDDING!!!
Truth be told, I bought a Banjo when I was 17.

When did you find out your wife was pregnant? Have you checked-out Tim Chapman's whereabouts then?

Send him to one of those boot camps. Or make watch deliverance. If all else fails divorce your wife on the grounds she gave you a defective child. None of this should be taken seriously. :D

Yeah, first it's the banjos, then the next thing you know they're wanting a resonator!

One word: forbearance. He is doing exactly what is expected. If he sticks with the banjo, THEN get the DNA testing. Nature/nurture debate will never be settled, anyway.

Has he left any Earl Scruggs or Steve Martin CDs in your CD player by accident?

I was going to say it was better than drums, but by the time I finished reading the rest of the posts, I sort of changed my mind. Maybe better than bagpipes or the accordian?

I'd like to get that album with King Tut on CD. I wonder if that's available...you know he won an Emmy for his writing for the Smothers Brothers show? Talented dude.

I love banjo's...They take the heat away from the drummers. (...ok, I'll be quiet now..)
