What do you have on your FD14 now? I'm finding that everything sounds too crashy on it. I'm thinking of trying silk & steel, but I'm open to suggestions. |

Yep...they do last longer. Plenty long enough to justify the price. |

Location: Central Florida | I've used D'Ad EJ16s for years on my Ovations, but more recently, I've been going with Elixer nanoweb 80/20 lights. Gives 'em a little more ring than the phos/bronze D'Ad's. On my Martins, I like tha Martin SP phos/bronze lights, though I may try some Elixers on them too. For electric, I'm not picky as to brand, just gauge (10s). |

What do you have on your FD14 now? I'm finding that everything sounds too crashy on it. I'm thinking of trying silk & steel, but I'm open to suggestions. I tried SnS on the FD14, hated them (though they sounded very good on the Custom A). I got Elixir 13 on the FD14 and haven't found anything better to my ear for that guitar. Got Elixir 11's on the CustomA and like them alot. Though, I can see 1717 sounding good on it too. It is a real chameleon, this guitar... likes lots of different string it does. |

Webstring Memphis electric 10's on the electrics, except
Webstring New York jazz (flatwound) 11's on the Martin and the 335.
Finally D'addario 11's (with wound third) on the 137. Got a ton of 'em. After they're gone it's the New York's for her, too. |

I still play this guitar more than any other. It's the one that gets to hang around out of its case, and its showing the wear but has beautiful balance and the heavier bottoms helps to extend its range.
1537: Elixer nanoweb Light .012-.053
This baby has exceptional range and balance and what I use when I want to play around with recording or just want to hear how good it sounds.
Electrics: Earnie Ball Power Slinky Custom .011-.048
They are just what I've been using forever on the Strat, although I suspect my Les Paul might like something different. |
