The hormone blocking shot I take to try and keep my prostate cancer in check (and it seems to be working) makes me tired, so usually a nap after lunch is in order.

The other day I was awakened by a sound in our bedroom. It sounded like someone was in there. Carefully going down the hall, the first thing I saw when I looked into our bedroom, was the miniblinds off one window and the curtain hanging down with other items overturned. Then I saw him, beady eyes and all.

He fell to the floor on the other side of our bed and I fell to the floor on my side. We just laid there, looking under the bed at each other contemplating what to do. I should have gotten a gun first.

I had shut the bedroom door so he couldn't get out, so I threw something at him to make him move. He did and headed for the door. "I've got you now", I thought. Wrong! He went under the door. I never dreamed a squirrel could go under such a tiny gap!

Now we have a squirrel loose in the house and I don't know where to look, opened outside doors hoping he would leave. Set a live trap, gave him a chance.

Came in at noon the next day, he was hungry also. Been in a new loaf of bread, tore up things around the windows again, droppings on the floor.

I was really tired, so decided to nap first. He woke me up. After the third time I slowly turned around on the couch and he was looking at me from the bar in the kitchen. I was well armed by now, pumpup air rifle, a 22 rifle and a very bright flashlight.

I thought I saw where he went and proceeded to the corner of the counter top, slowly pulled out the toaster, then the coffee pot and YES, there he was behind the wok.

Without going into the details, let me say that it came to a satisfactory conclusion for yours truly, and rat shot at 10 inches ain't to be ignored.

Actually, I had visions of him being found in the alley with a bullet to the back of the head, gangster style.
That would have been poetic justice, He who lives by the wok, dies by the wok.

Sticky Traps:

A few months ago, a local NY radio DJ team had a contest where they offered a hairy-backed listener $5K if he would let two naked strippers "wax" his back . . . using . . . sticky traps.

The guy who "won" was a NYC fireman who's wife was divorcing him and he needed to raise money to pay for a lawyer.

While they ripping the hair off his back, the DJ's had the foresight to play the guy's "wedding song" in the background.

Sorry if I veered off-topic Brad, but I'm afraid I'm fresh-out of squirrel stories . . .

. . . now the full "Brazilian" . . . . that'd been worth 5K.

squirrels are the enemy. I had them in my attic pre addition stage. they ate through wires, scratched through the drywall at one place and I think I even had one die in the walls. (all I know is he isn't scratching any more)

the lovely and talented suzipep would not allow me to harm them so I had to use the havahart traps. I was on a govt squirrel relocation project for months. I kept count on the refergerator, after 80 squirrels trapped 5 birds 16 chipmunks and a possum I gave up keeping score.

what I noticed was when I relocated a group of them another group would move in. I think I finally thinned out the population enough so that they don't come back, plus the new siding closed up any and all holes they may have had as entrance.

I hate squirrels they are rats with fur

we ain't got any squirrels in hawaii. no snakes, no skunks, no armadillos and no llamas (that i am aware of)
we've got our share of cockroaches, centipedes, wild pig, feral goats, mongoose and wild wahines though.

i ain't sure fillhixx, but since you've eaten all the rest, your tastebuds are rather compromised and it won't matter.

About a dozen years ago back in Illinois, I got to my friend's house just in time to witness him unload a full clip into his roof and chimney. The noise didn't even phase the momma raccoon, which I swear was laughing at him.

This past week we had more squirrels, this time in the attic of my wife's daycare. I think two also came in through the unused dryer vent. Hopefully, I closed the openings up while they were out shopping.

The past few years we didn't seem to have many, this year they are everywhere. Also the coyotes are plentiful and big with fine coats of hair. Thankfully, they don't come in the house. We also are overrun with feral hogs. A sow can have three litters a year, so not much hope of eliminating them.
Merry Christmas to all.

what's up with the plague of feral hogs all over the U.S. and in hawaii? not enuf folks eatin' pork, i guess. one of the main concerns here is that the pigs root up much of the native vegetation destroying plant species and causing major erosion. they will also remodel the front end of your car if you happen to hit one on the road. this happens alot here, especially at night. their red eyes are an evil sight.

Well, we had an investation of rats in my neighborhood that inspited my wife to dub our band: Rats of Saint Felix. Yet, another band name inspired by vermin! Of course the name will only last six months then I'll have to paint over the stencils.

Only if they have 666 on their foreheads.
Three weeks ago my son and two others were deer hunting on my dad's place. The took a break in the afternoon and were scouting around. Left their rifles in the pickup. They came upon a grown boar in a plum thicket. Fortunately, my son had his 9mm pistol, took 8 shoots to put him down.
