Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I am not sure that the Balladeer is being discontinued. Since the change in management at Ovation alot of the 'Lower-end' models are being moved overseas.
I know for sure that Elite T's will be made overseas, soon! (like NOW!) But I haven't heard about Balladeers.
But a quick check showed me that there are none listed on Ovations Website... So they might be gone. :( And I don't have any!
[well, I have a Special Balladeer... But that's not quite the same thing]

Balladeer production is moved to Asia. They are now called "Standard Balladeer", just like many years ago.
Still a great guitar. |

| OK, so now everyone with an original USA Balladeer has a collectible instrument, especially the early ones with the 5-piece necks. (I wonder if the standard asian Balladeer will have a 5-piece neck?..kinda doubt it..) |

I agree the D-28 is a nice guitar. Not as nice as My OM-18V but nice. |

Actually, the only thing that was actually bad on that one was the missing battery cover (Got 5), the missing back door (on its way) and the split bridge (making one out of Koa).
And of course that it is an Applesauce. I had the intent to re-top it, prior to taking on a full size unit. Got Spuce?
I consider it to be an educational and recreational investment. That and it takes my mind off of all the cool stuff that Mr. Big has for sale.

Location: Chicago | Recommendation: Check out the all-acoustic "My Goal's Beyond" by John McLaughlin (1970). Recorded exclusively on a Balladeer. No electronics, just GREAT micing. Best Ovation sound, in my book (no cheesy chorus or processing etc.) |
