I have enough trouble navigating the newer OP's. I don't need anything more complicated.

I need to see what the 1/8 jack is all about. It's compatible with any kidney shaped can, which leads a lot of folks to conclude you could swap it between guitars at will. And maybe you can if you don't care about the aux input. But it sure sounds to me like you need to hardwire the 1/8 jack into a single guitar.

If that's the case I'll probably put it in the C2-Legend, so that Schroeder can have my backing tracks when I finally sell him the guitar.

Another good choice would be to put in the Lost Art Koa or the Darth Vadar 2080.

If the other end of that 1/8 jack wiring also plugs into the iDEA, then put one harness in each git you want.

Don't know though... AL, ya there...?

We'll see. pebblemax has placed his order with Mr. Big for the guitar. max'll get out of it what was intended I think. He is no doubt the target demographic and got the whole value prop right away. Plugging into the computer makes perfect sense to him. And oh yeah, it won't use up any of the guitar karma I've been trying to build up around my house.

The Roland on the VG Strat would only work on an electric. So the other Roland would be the Mirco BR?

Hey Al? I think I may have given you the wrong address for that iDea guitar. I'm really looking forward to getting it.

Seriously and to get back on track, this is the ideal guitar for what Max wants and needs. Being just another USB device he can work with is cool in itself. He can do some songwriting and send me an mp3 by email. He will use it for lessons from Workshop Live. He'll be able to do a jam along with himself. It should be hearty enough to withstand the rigors of living in a dormitory in upstate New York. He can play it acoustically and jam with friends. And the price is right. I will put the preamp in the 2007BCS just for grins when he's home and out hauling garbage.

OK curious, does this unit fit in the same opening as the New Studio electronics and others? Also what is the cost comparison between lets say The Studio electronics package compared to the IDEA?

Does the iDea preamp fit in the same can as the OP Pro, OP Studio, or VIP?

Does anyone know if the OP Studio is around the $299 price tag of this new IDEA? My Customs have taken so long now that they have this new electronics package out since I ordered and I am curious if the pricing is about the same. I would guess it must be quite close.

I'd hold off until you try it before wholesale giving up on an OP Studio in favor of the iDea. Who knows, if you strip off all the MP3 gimmicks maybe it's a pretty shitty basic pre-amp.

Very True, I am just thinking out loud and hoping I will get some good user info here.
I do need my guitars for gigs so I need a preamp the is easy to use and sounds like most of the good quality modern electronics do. The Studio has been my choice so far but I am curious about the Idea.
Now knowing that it can just dump right in a kidney shaped can helps my decision greatly. I could always just buy one seperately later on.

Don't ditch on the Studio until you've tried it. IMO the perfection of the OP series, with possible exception of the Optima of the late 90's (for its powerful simplicity). The Studio in my 12 is an amplification tonal monster...have nothing but good to say about it.

You won't get the same stage sounds from the iDea it sounds like, though it has its own perks. I may pick one up if they come out with a larger on-board memory or a flash drive to upgrade with down the line...maybe have a hot-swap pair with my Studio.
