1997 Collector\'s Edition Guitar
For some reason I think they made this model with a cedar top. I'm a finger picker and this guitar looks like it would be a great pickin' guitar.
Also, do you think my wife will kill me if I buy yet another guitar?

Location: Zion, Illinois | I CAN'T pull the old "I'll sell one of my old ones to pay for it" routine. That's how I got my Elite 1537.
Really, the guitar I wanted to get rid of was my Gibson J-200, but the wife won't let me 'cause I've had it since 1973 and all the "But honey, the Ovation SOUNDS better" won't fly with her. She plays guitar and I think she kinda likes the Gibson. Thinest neck I've ever seen on an acoustic (1 1/2 inches at the nut).
The Custom Legend might have to go, its getting hard to walk through my "play" room with so many guitars around.
I'll probably pass on it, I still want one good classical guitar.

Location: Hot Springs, Arkansas | Did they make any cedar top Ovations? I have only seen the spruce and the carbon fiber tops. Seems like it would've been worth exploring. I have a Yamaha Classical which has a very warm smooth sound. I think an Ovation cedar top might be quite nice! |

Location: Zion, Illinois | I've decided to keep the wife and forsake this guitar . Thanks for all the good advise on how to get this one past my wife. I was hoping that with so many guitars lying around that she wouldn't notice one more, but stupid me taught her to use Quicken for our bills and now she watches the money like a hawk.
Question for you Ovations experts: did they make a cedar topped Ovation? Somebody was selling a parlor size Ovation a while back and claimed it was cedar. Just curious.

Location: SoCal | About 10 years ago, Ovation made a cedar topped Elite and Balladeer. I don't think they are making them currently.
Check out the link below to Elderly Instruments. Evidently, Ovation also made a half cedar and half spruce topped Elite. There are two of them for sale at Elderly.
