I just got a call from a buddy of mine who is in the studio editing a live recording he did. He's run into an interesting situation. His pickups on his Ovations (Elite 6 string and Custom Legend 12 string) picked up his voice. I have no idea how this could happen. Anybody have any thoughts?

Pickups are just another variety of a Microphone. If he was sing'n and play'n and either has a big voice, or the monitors were too hot... the guitar will pickup will pick-it-up. Really old electric's would do this, and sometimes a cheap single-coil you can get to do it also.

I was making a demo with my Elite plugged in into my Fostex 8 track. Just at the end of the take, my dumb dog Shadow started barking downstairs. Since I was plugged in, I didn't think it would pick it up, but it did.

dang dog.
