Location: east coast | Hi, New here and this is a very cool site, I checked in a few times and everyone seems real cool and helpful. I just bought a new s247 ovation and waiting for shipment. Price was right, I own quite a few guitars but never bought one on the internet before. I did speak to the salesman on the phone and he was very helpful. I almost can't believe I bought a guitar without trying it out first, But with a 45 day return policy it should be fine, any opions on USA vs korean Ovations? |

do a search there are many opinions here on usa vs korean ovations generally some hate the korean models others like them. then I say let your eyes and ears decide. |

Location: east coast | actually, I used to play drums as well as guitar and for bulletin board purposes other than the real Ringo I usually have no problem with the name already in use......
Then again, I also have Bozo 6 string guitar, but I prefer not to go by that name...... |

Location: Shelton, Washington, USA | Korean vs U.S..... so far, my experience has been that the biggest difference between them is the name.... the quality is comparable, the sound is comparable.... (oh, yeah, and the price :) )Celebs are good guitars. Like anything else... some are good, some are bad... personally, I think the Celebs are the victim of an attitude that says it can't be as good as something made in the states. Just a tad ethnocentric... |

Location: east coast | I know what you mean about imports, I usually only buy the best? whatever that means (usually the most money). But with everything else I have, I could not justify it this time. I really wanted a guitar I can take to the beach and not worry about. Got a great deal on the s247 and case, just have to wait a week or so to receive.
As far as the Bozo 6 string, I am still in love with that guitar after 27 years, when I bought it I was actually looking only at Martin, and I tried the Bozo and whoa, It played like butter and sounded like a dream. At this time I do need some work done on it though, I was told by one of Bozo's old employee/guitar builders that Bozo came out of retirement and is building again part time. It took me a while to track him down but hope to have him do the repairs which may be quite expensive but this guitar cannot be replaced.
I also had a 1976 Ovation Legend I bought new but never played much at all once I got the Bozo so I sold it.
I also have a Sho-Bud pedal steel, Guild jumbo 12 string, Gibson Les Paul, Fender 6 string, and a mandolin. |

Location: Scotland | If that's one of Bozo's own, handmade instruments, it will, by all accounts be spectacular, huge & highly ornate. However it should be noted that Mr Podunavac licensed the "Bozo" name to a short-lived run of Japanese-made guitars in the late '70's/early 80's. I've seen a couple which were very good guitars indeed. |

| i agree with jimminos, celebs are not bad guitars at all.yeah they may not be the same as the us made but they are cvations. they are good affordable guitars. |

Location: Scotland | Al, The jap Bozo's are not too common, I've seen 3 in 20-odd years. 2 of them belonged to one of my guitar students who was a Kottke freak. They had the big bell-shaped body & the big headstock but not as much inlay. They were well made & sounded fine. I think they were made by K.Yairi. My memory may be playing tricks here but I also have a vague recollection of, bizarrely, a solidbody with the Bozo name.

Location: NJ | I think there was a solidbody that was a lap steel or at least looked like one.
these japanese Bozo's have me intriguied I never remember seeing any or playing any.
I did play Scott Chinery's Bozo archtop. I guess I did like the instrument but I LOVED both the Benedetto and the Manzer. Too many great guitars in one spot. |

Location: Scotland | All the Jap models on the Bozo website & the few I saw are conventional wooden flatbacks, although Yairi did dabble with wooden roundbacks at one point. According to Gruhn's description this was made by Bozo for Kottke, who then gave it to his manager, who would have been Denny Bruce at that time. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | Bozo played with the idea a little but it never went anywhere. Augustion (Augie LoPrinzi) did also but we stopped that for copyright infringement. They weren't very good and the program collapsed on itself anyway. |
