I need your help. I've been playing guitar all my life but I've never changed nylon strings.
What's the secret?
Also, give me a recomm of a couple of brands to buy. I assume my new Ovation came with light guage.

Location: Scotland | The older Ovation owners manuals have a page of pictures showing how to tie nylon strings at the head & bridge. I can scan & email tham to you.
Nylon strings don't come in different gauges but in different tensions. Medium or high tension is the best bet with Ovations as they tend to be built a little heavier than traditional classical guitar. Try D'addario Pro Arte. The also do a carbon fibre composite, and a coated composite set. I use the composites on my Country Artist & like them a lot

Location: SoCal | I personally like Pro-Arte's made by D'Addario, with the extra hard tension. I use them on my Ovation classical, country artist, and on a 1914 OO18 Martin that I have. They sound great on all three.
I tried, oh damn, I can't think of the name right now, the strings with the nano web technology on the nylon string guitars. While I use them on the steel strings and love them, on the nylon strings, it made the bass too crisp, not warm enough. I'd stay aways from those. |

I buy the ones with the ball ends no fuss no muss ok it does not have the look but for ease of swapping you can't beat it.

Changing Nylon Strings
