Location: Coral Springs, FL | I have a Deluxe Balladeer smooth back serial number 1146 in RED. The inside sticker says it was made in Bloomfield, Conn. I have tried to determine the age using the "code" on the Ovation website but it does not work. For instance, it says the fourth number "4" means it is a Matrix Shallow Bowl but my guitar is a standard bowl. I sent a message to Ovation Customer Service but they said us the code. Can anyone help me determine the age? Thanks. |

Location: SoCal | I think you can get a ballpark idea as to the age. First, is the bowl shinny or textured? Next, does it say deluxe on the headstock? |

Location: Atlanta,Ga. | If you have a Bloomfield ct. label, then you have a late 1967 to early 1968 four digit in red ink deluxe balladeer shiny bowl...Sounds like a keeper to me... |

Location: SoCal | I think Sam has it pegged. If the guitar is in good shape, then it's a real keeper, unless of course, you want to sell it to me for a hundred bucks. Yeah, right. Don't ever sell it. If you do, you'll regret it for the rest of your life. |

Don't you hate it when that happens?
If it is shiney with a red top it might be a refin. I don't think that the smove bowls were anything other than -4 and -1. Comments Sam? |
