A White shallow bowl A/E Pinnacle 3862 recently popped up on E-Bay. Has anyone out there owned/played one. I'm interested in the overall quality compared to the USA and Korean models.

Thanks,
Patsbro

I too have been wondering what the story is on the pinnacles.
I'm not sure what the one on e-bay is like, but as far as specs go for the current pinnacles, the quality seems to be quite better than the korean models.
They feature AA Grade Solid Sitka Spruce tops, which is a big improvement over the korean models. Plus, the two peice mahogany neck is a nice improvement over nato necks, along with walnut bridge. Also, the fretboard on the deluxe pinnacle is better extended than the deluxe celeb. They also feature a bit of abalone here and there--nice touch.
The fret markers, however, look strange and small. Also, the headstocks look slightly like they were pressed and molded (meaning, they have a molded-looking shape). The epaulets seem like they're placed too high and close to the abalone. And the paint job seems lacking (thin and a bit uneven). Not sure how this looks in person, but I've seen 4 or so pics of them that look odd.
As far as I can tell, they're like Diet Elites/Legends. Sure, it's a big big diet, but I'd guess overall they're nice.
Now after saying that, the one on ebay could be totally different.
Rather than spend $499 on one though, I would definately spend $459.99 on a brand new USA made balladeer.

I noticed that you are from West Virginia, my mother and my dad's family are from that state, although I grew up in Ohio. My grandfather on my mother's side was a state representative from Sutton on the Elk river, I've always considered myself a mountaneer once removed, and am still free as we all are. It just makes me happy to see another mountaneer on line.

It's amazing how the world has become such a small place with the internet. I've been in WV all of my life, bought my first Ovation in '77, and have been looking for interesting, informative and intelligent conversation about Ovations ever since. I think I've found it.

I know you've found it, if you have time read through the past postings and you'll see some of the best information on Ovations on the planet. And there's more to come.
