| Hi,
I've been playing an Elite 1768 since 1991. About 4 months ago a luthier friend noticed a small crack running along the bridge. It got a little worse over a short period of time but seems to have stopped. I've noticed no further cracking for the last couple of months. I can slide a piece of paper (or a pick) a short ways under the bridge, directly under the strings. Once I get outside the strings the bridge looks darn secure. The guitar is black so you don't even see the crack unless you hold it in just the right light. Would you have it repaired, or wait?
I should also say that I won't be playing it as much as I had because I used the crack as an excuse to get order a new Adamas 1597 (with the OP-50 preamp), which I just picked up last week :-) Incredible guitar!
Thanks,
Ken | |

Location: Pensacola,FL | As a "part-time" luthier IMHO a crack (especially in this area) should be repaired as soon as it is noticed (it's a fairly simple job at this stage).
It may be that it will never come apart on you OR you might wind up with the entire bridge lifting off the top and taking some of the top with it  . So, if it were me, I would have it repaired by a competent luthier now. ;) | |
