I can have a leather one made for around $A150 by a leather craftsman.
It's a shame that these accessories and wearables are not available in Oz. |

Well, I'm just going by the normal US copyright type laws, but as long as you dont mass-produce, sell, market, or make any money off it, it's okay. As long as it's just for personal use, I'd say go right ahead.
(If you are really concerned about it, have the guy use small print brander on the other side of the strap to mark it "unliscenced" or something)

Location: NJ | there are so many knockoffs of the guitars is one strap going to hurt? I doubt if the KMC police will knock on your door, but take them to a Namm show and try to market them without premission will be a whole different story. |

It's only a problem if you try to make money off of it and then only if you make alot of money!
It's funny how these things turn up, just this weekend I pulled a case out of a basement that had been there for years (at least 5 maybe 10) and there in the case pocket is a new leather Ovation strap, the brown mid size, 2" wide, one.
Another point, If anyone is going to store guitars for a long time take out the batteries. Some of these guitars were acoustics and the batteries are a mess of black fuzz. The plugs have come appart from the battery and are stuck in the battery holder. Everything is corroded.
It's a shame, one is Adamas #35 and the battery holder is totally green and the wires broke. Guess I'll have to throw away the guitar now since I can't plug it in no mo. |

You say the batteries went bad and CONTAMINATED the guitar. This now becomes an EPA problem, probably involving the superfund. I am very knowledgeable of these problems and will be happy to clean up the contaminated area and haul off the dangerously contaminated trash, i.e. the guitar and the case, of course. Any other guitar within 100 yards will have to be disposed of also, any volunteers for the disposal team. Costs and expenses must be paid by the contaminee, i.e. you.

Now.....my office is located is located in "beautiful" (sarcasm) Kearny (pronounced "CAR-knee") New Jersey. Kearney has the dubious and illustrious reputation as being "the asshole of the world". If you EVER see a scene in "The Sopranos" where someone is driving to/through some god-forsaken place to dump someboddy who's been "whacked"........it's filmed in Kearny (check the credits at the end of each episode).
The highest point here is "breathtaking" Mount Kearny which is a landfill.
Put the Adamas in a sealed plastic bag, send it to me and I will safely and properly dispose of it for you......GRATIS!
It would be my public duty!!!!

My relatives lives there. I've played some private Irish Pub on Kearny Ave. many times, but many years ago (don't remember the name). I've also played gigs in Harrison (now that was scary!), North Arlington and Lyndhurst.
My "family" would be glad to help you dispose of that guitar...!

So as not to run the risk of "disrespecting" your "family", lemme clarify that I work in SOUTH Kearny (near the NJ Turnpike) in the Land of 2-headed Seagulls that Glow in the Dark.
Don' wanna tick no-boddy off!

Location: 6 String Ranch | Youse guys are really funny! I figgered it out by my own self anyways. I won't plug it in and play is like the old fashioned type of guitars, wifout an amplifryer. I've heard this can work.
(Actually it's strung with the 1717 XL acoustics and sounds great, My father had nylons on it. Can't wait to put in a pickup that has a ceramic saddle, should ring like a fomo)
For the record since the lable has fallen out, like most of these I suspect, I went under the truss rod cover and wrote 35 so if Cliff ever finds this guitar he'll know it was mine once!
Also the strap is gone, I traded it for some fresh lobster, Sorry Sam. How about boxes of Ovation logo picks? The ones with Waldo on them? |

If I remember correctly, "Waldo" sported a Jimmy Messina haircut and wore a pair of Earth Shoes!!
(Not that I'm "mocking", mind you. I also remember that around that time I owned a pair of those knee-high, zipper-sided, Earth Shoe BOOTS!) |

EARTH SHOES ARE BACK! maybe it's because i'm still MIA cliff. if anyone finds me let me know me still owes me some money for the last trip to the guitar store. i don't count on ever getting it though. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | The guy holding the guitar on the neck plate is another profile shot of Wally. I think he was on the frisbee string flings too. He really got around. He didn't wear earf shoes though, had those cool zip up the inside boots. BTW, don't try to sit cross legged and hold the guitar like he did, it's impossible. |

save me a few of those picks por favor. they would be great "groupie earings" for the loyal fans who CAN play with their legs crossed. too good to be used up as picks. by the way my favorite all around pick is the orange tortex-------what's yours?
by the way off the subject, i just bought 7 kilos of FRESH shrimp (15.4 lbs) for $30 at the weekly street market. this is a great shrimp year----maybe el nino? anyway some will be in the freezer in case any of my guitar amigos make it down here. something to go with the smoked fish and cold beer. talk about something that will rust your strings!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Russ best shrimp I ever had where the ones I got off the dock on Okracoke (sp) island in SC or is is it NC ??? well it was about 15 years ago I steamed them in beer and old bay and they were awesome.

My favorite shrimp recipe came from Alton Brown ("Good Eats" on the Food Network):
GOOD SIZE shrimpies (around 24 count).
Devein (if neccesary), but leave the shell on.
Toss in a bowl of a little bit of olive oil and a generous dose of Old Bay.
BROIL for a minute and a half on each side.
Throw into a cold metal bowl and pop into the freezer for just few minutes (to stop the cooking process and to slightly "chill").
Peel, eat, repeat.
ooofah!! |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | these north carolina references are stirring up some really great memories. except for the mosquitos (took lessons from the "body snatchers", those 50's hollywood aliens that had hypodermics that telescoped from their finger tips-------remember them? remember what they injected?). i would love an excuse to visit nc again. the naval architect that designed one of my boats works the oriental area and i'll bet i could even dig us up boat to use. a great place for an ofc party, and plenty of places to play music too.
al i have a couple of nice surf rods that gather dust here (i do mostly trolling and jigging). a nice fenwick 14' with a penn 950ss spooled with 40# mono. it needs a trip and some excercise.
when you come down guys, bring some old bay. there is nothing quite like it. like tabasco sauce stands apart from all the rest, old bay leaves you shaking your head "no" at the rest.
i used to buy frozen chicken leg quarters fer .09 a lb on special and put about 10 10# bags in the huge freezer on my whitby 42. once a week i would bone out a bag, save the meat for stir frys and kaboks and bait two crab traps with the skin and bones. a couple of days later i'd have a couple dozen nice blue crabs. that's a lot of food for less than a dollar. |
