Anyways, I am requiring some more assistance from the ovation gurus. I am seriously considering buying the Ovation 35th Anniversary Standard Balladeer, but I have a few questions. First off, on the Ovation standard balladeer page it says Top: A Grade Spruce. On the Ovation 35th Anniv page it says Top: Solid Spruce. Any difference? I'm thinking that, if anything, the wood on the anniv balladeer should be a better grade, but it states that the differences are only cosmetic, so what's the deal? Why aren't they listed the same? Another discrepency between the two are pickups. On the balladeer page it says Pickup: Thinline Under-Sadle. On the 35th anniv page it says Pickup: Ovation Thinline. Can we assume that the pickups are placed underneath the sadle as well? My last question is about the nutwidth. On the Standard balladeer the nutwidth is 1 7/8. On the 35th anniv the nutwidth is 1 11/16. I know this is not a major difference but is it big enough to screw around with how well I play?
One more thing, has anyone played the 35th anniv balladeer? If so, how did you find it? I really appreciate the help. Thanks guys. | |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | Well it wasn't your imagination about the missing post?? I'm in the middle of lavishing praise on an Ovation Tornado and BOOM! I wind up with a response to your inquiry about the 35th anniversary Balladeer that didn't make any sense
I've played the guitar which you mention, and I enjoyed it quite a bit, but alas don't know enough about the differences between a regular Balladeer and the Anniversary model- It sure looks nice though, and felt good playing it. Good Luck!
