'got an Elderly catalogue with an ovation for sale with "touch-pad electronics"... Can anyone point me to more literature, reviews, aftermarket packages... In particular, I'd like to add piezzo p.u.'s to some of my arched instruments, and this seems like something that could be put into a pick-guard with out cutting into the body... Thanks for any help...

This was used on the 97 collectors edition. The system made a slight but audible click when touching the volume pads (maybe the one I had was faulty) plus there's no visual indication of volume level. Putting something like this on a pickguard wouldn't be a good idea, the volume would change if you accidentally touched it while playing. Also the internal circuitry, which was mounted on a flat flexible plastic strip is quite large, certianly bigger than most archtop pickguards, so the side of the guitar is the only logical place to mount it. The fact that this hasn't made it to other models suggests that it was a better idea in theory than in practice.
I don't think there is anything similar available as an after-market addition.

I was just going to post "YuK" but then I thought I would be more diplomatic and say that "although an excellent idea it needs to be refined in research and development before the next offering"
