Location: Farmington, MO. 63640 | I heard about the hurricane as well and Russ came to mind since I was super close to the one on the other coast last month. Russ, I hope you are taking shelter and good luck. I plan to visit your area on my next trip to Mexico, just hope its still there. Good Luck

Fight the urge to do 100mph plus sailing just cause the wind is there, passing an unlimited in a sailboat might be unnerving (to the guy in the unlimited). On second thought, give it a try.
Seriously, Good Luck, they were showing shots of Puerta Vallarta damage on TV tonight.

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | well, this area WAS known as a good hurricane hole but now has boats sitting in the town's plaza. we really took a hit that nobody ever remembers anything like. it will take a long time to clean up, but kathleen and i are ok, and all of our construction survived. it just looks like our yard looks like it has gone through a giant blender. i'm just glad i paid attention to the three little pigs story when i was a kid and built everything to defeat the big bad wolf.
we are heading out in our 4x4 today to check on several friends north of us that took a heavier hit i'm sure. they live on the open ocean, and no one has been able to contact them. i guess i will be posting allot less for awhile. this mess is going to take a long time to clean up.
all of the ovations survived, but will be playing allot more blues in the near future.
thanks for thinking about us amigos.

Great to hear from you, hope your friends are OK. We're getting bits and pieces of the story there, looks like a serious storm.

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | thanks again for the thoughts guys. this was a real cluster fuck as clint eastwood would say. but you know, it really sorts out the grain from the chaff. i now know who has heart in this town and who are all hot air.
we have more or less gotten the big stuff out of the way, and now it is just clean up. our town seems to have, because of it's geography, done better than most. many of our friends lost allot. this makes my second hurricane. emmily in north carolina on my 42' whitby and this catagory 5 at about 30 km from the eye. i hope it is my last.

Keep us posted as best you can, we all keep hoping to hear good news, so far it sounds like their wasn't serious loss of life although it was a max power hurricane. Mexicans in my experience are resilient and tough, there was one story already saying the Mexican boat owners at San Blas thought they could get there boats repaired and back to sea shortly.
