| I have an older Ovation solid body electric 12 string serial number E11980 that seems to be pretty rare. I haven't been able to find any info on any website including ovation.com, ebay, etc., and it is a stunning guitar in mint condition with a three way pickup, two inch thick solid hardwood body, beautiful inlays, etc. and a gorgeous hardshell case. Does anyone know what the name of this model is or what the value is? I can send (email) photo. |

Location: SoCal | Either post a pic here or send me a picture moody.pi@cox.net but you either have a Preacher Deluxe 12 string (I just bought one on ebay) or a Deacon 12. Those were the two main solid body 12's sold by Ovation. |

Hey never mind but thanks anyway; using your information I found a photo online of a Ovation Deacon 12 string circa 1976 and it is an exact match! Now I need to find a value not that it's for sale and also need to discover why I still get distortion sounds even with two brand new 9 volt batteries. |

Location: 6 String Ranch | There are gain trim pots inside the electronics, I think one is for gain and the other the degree of out of phase. Sam, look it up in one of the manuels please. |

Location: Scotland | The white trimpot is an output trim for the neck pickup only, the blue one adjusts the phase relationship of the pickups.
You may have the pickups too close to the strings, try dropping them & see if the distortion decreases. If the distortion is present with the volume on the guitar backed off it could be dry joints or component failure in the preamp. What kind of amp are you using? |

At the time this was occurring, I was plugged into a brand new Crate DXJ112 60 watt 1X12 combo using both the acoustic and clean sounds. And it is more present with the guitar's volume on full but was not eliminated by lowering the pot, nor did it seem to make a huge difference between different pickup settings or tone adjustments using the guitar's controls. I will check the wires closely and try tweaking the internal adjuster if necessary. |

Location: Scotland | Could well be a fault in the preamp. A good tech should be able to check it out & correct it. Schematics are easily available if you need them.
