Picked up the January 2003 issue of Guitar One magazine and there was an article and lesson on Al Di Meola. And there he is on the first page, playing a new Ovation Al Di Meola model Custom Legend. Gotta love it.

Paul,

I heard the factory made their last run of 1769-AD5’s this summer and Al and Ovation were parting ways in 2003. Is that a true story?

I saw a promo add of Al playing in Rochester NY. last month... He wasn't holding an Ovation.

I spoke to someone who was there and said it didn't look like he was playing any either.
