As some of you know, I finally have my blonde Thunderhead and am very happy with it. I'm going to try to post pictures of it and my other Ovations later this weekend.

The seriel number on this guitar is a three digit number, black ink, starting with 3. The obvious guess is that it is within the first 400 made. Anybody have any idea what year that would be? Production started in 1968 so I would guess either 68 or 69, and I'm leaning towards 1969. This seriel number configuration isn't in the Ovation book or in the reference section of this website.

Thoughts?

p.s. By the way, with a little adjustment, the guitar plays like a dream come true. Thanks Miles.

Glad you like it... Can't believe I gave up such a low serial number... but at least it went to a good home :)

Miles....You remember that Brown Thunderhead deluxe I sent you pics of? It has a small serial # too. Couldn't find it anywhere on the Ovation site either. The # is B-108...I know this is an early one just because it is a Deluxe but would like to find out more. Can anyone give me some help?

The serial numbers on storms don't exactly correlate to the reference material. Roughly speaking hand written s/n's on storms are from '67-'68, typed numbers started in late '68 and letter prefixes (such as yours) stared in '69.

Overall, my wife is cool with the new blonde. But she's not into threesomes and she makes me take it out of the bed at nite.

Paul, tell her you're into threesomes, kick her out & get your Viper-D in there instead.

You know, thinking about it, you could really get raw with the strings.

Here I am, injured and blind (my glasses were broke in the accident) and the usual degeneration meets my fuzzy gaze when I rejoin the board. Well, some things never change, Thank God (or Al or whatever controls our destiny)
