Location: Rhode Island | I'm new to guitars and just got my first Ovation for Christmas. Is there a headphone amp that would work well with it ? I've seen lots of postings about the differences in amps bettween acoustic and electric and it seems that the headphone amps I have been able to find are all for electric.
Also would an ax84 amp be ok for the Ovation or is it also more for an electric ?

Location: NJ | I do it from time to time (sitting in the living room at 3am while others are sleeping). I just use the headphone jack on my effects pedal (Applied Research Technologies-ART "Acoustic"). If you've got good fingernails, you can lightly fingerpick and the result is tremendous. It also alows you to add chorus, delay, and the like. |

| I do exactly as Cliff with a Zoom 504 II for the same reason. I play finger style and I some times practice late at night. Its perfect for honing an amplified style and working with affects with out waking up the neighbors.

I'll have to look for the paperwork when I get home. Evidently they weren't overly popular as I've only seen one other besides mine and I saw a small ad in a mag when I got mine. I got it as a gift about five years ago and it's entirely possible that the company was sold or folded, but I'll check. It's got a lot of neat effects on it geared for acoustic guitars. The only drawback that I see on it is that all of the effects are "presets" and you can vary the parameter of each effect by "toggling" between A and B. I wish it offered a bit more ability to control the variables. One of these days, I'll upgrade to a better unit and use this one for my flute as the effects work REALLY cool on that.
I'll check on finding you a website.
There's a ton of others out there.
I've noticed the Yamaha "AG Stomp" out there and I think its around 3bills (but don't quote me). It offers some neat microphone emulation and some effects. I would assume it has a headphone jack, but I'm not sure. |

Location: Pittsburgh, PA | I bought a Line6 POD2.0 for $239 to use with my CK057.
Works great, except for the RF interference (which isn't the POD's fault; see other thread on that topic). It emulates 32 kinds of amps and has chorus, tremolo, flanging, delay and reverb too. |

Location: SoCal | I just picked up a POD to play in public using it straight thru a P.A. I might even sell my home practice amp (Fender Princeton 65) and buy a pa moniter to use with the POD. I've been using it with headphones like everybody else. In the middle of the night it either play guitar or surf adult websites. I'm happier playing the guitar. |
