Through an interesting turn of events I just aquired temporarily a mint condition Martin 000-28EC. Very nice guitar. Of course I have been comparing it to every Ovation in my collection. Sadly, I'll only have this Martin for about six months before it has to go back to its owner. He's a military guy who just shipped to the pursian gulf and asked me to "babysit" his pride and joy while he is away. It took me about 2 seconds to say YES. Anyway, I'm wondering if Ovation actually goes out and buys competitors guitars and uses them to "benchmark" against the Ovation line. I suspect they probably do, but does anyone know for sure? Dave

I don't know if the company officially buys guitars but I know that many of the people that work there play and collect guitars so I am sure they use others to compare in quality and sound.
