| I am new to this site, and have to say that I'm quite impressed with the number of happy Ovation fans! Seems like everyone here is eager to help each other out too, which is nice to see. It makes me feel good about my upcoming purchase.
I sent my question in to Ovation, but I guess they are closed for the holidays, so hopefully someone here can help me out this weekend...
I'm about to buy the Dark Blue Pearl CK057. I saw a display model in that color at a local dealer, however, it does not have the OP20 preamp. Instead, it has the DJ4 preamp, which is a 2001 model preamp. It was confusing to me because Ovation Celebritys did not have that color in 2001...
I had thought that all 2002 Celebrity Models are supposed to have the newer style OP20 (or higher) preamps. According to the July 2002 Price & Spec book, it should have the OP20 preamp with built-in tuner.
I did manage to jot down the serial number (2102230), but I can't find any lists that tell me what model year this guitar is (because it's not US-made)... Does anyone know where I can find such a list?
Also, when are the 2003 Celebrity guitars due out?
Thanks in advance for any info! |

My local dealer stocks a range of US made as well as Korean made Ovations and things can get confusing.
Anyone know of a website or somewhere where the Korean made Ovations are listed? I noticed that colours are different in the Korean models. As for my dealer, the Celebrity and models below it are Korean. Balladeer and above are US.
Anyone can help here? :( |

Location: Dallas | .....We are bastard stepchildren....shunned & spat upon not unlike Biblical lepers....just kidding.....kinda. Most of the boys here advocate USA made Ovations (can't blame them....but my CV68 Viper.......made in Korea, is a helluva nice guitar). I think everyone has been busy for the Holidays, or you would have rec'd more responses. These guys have been good to me, despite my status on the food chain.
Good Luck, KD ;) |

Location: Dallas | Al has a huge point. In my experience wif Guitar Center - I have been overwhelmingly UNIMPRESSED. They are really helpful when you go in to lay down some bucks. If you need any other kind of help, you better pray to Jesus it ain't got nuffin to do wif Life&Death.....cause you ain't gettin no help there.....IMHO - KD :o |
