Location: Sunshine State, Australia | I got a flat knife in the gap and levered it. You do know that the preamp sits inside a 'can' don't you? You can't push it out from inside without unscrewing the clamp thingies.
digging it out with a knife was not an overly pleasant experience - I make sure it goes in dead straight nowadays. |

Location: Vernon CT | Yes, I do know it sits in a "can". Are you saying you can push the Can out ot the preamp?
If the preamp, where/what did you put the "preassure" on? I've spent 1/2 hour trying to get the damn thing out. I feell like any moe force is going to breake the plastic can or worse. |

Location: Marlton, NJ | I would take the can out - loosen the two screws that hold it in. Sometimes the can itself is in tight and puts extra pressure on the preamp. As Muzza said, the can is held in by pressure from the two screws/clamps. |

I got a thin old fashioned flat bladed butter knife and pried it out in the area I've indicated with the red arrow below. Try to do it while pressing the release button.
Bonne chance. |

Location: Marlton, NJ | Wabbit - good question! I was thinking back to when I installed one and for some reason remembered getting to it through the access hatch.
My bad... maybe I should have another cup of coffee  |

Location: Reno, NV | In my experience, if you overtighten the screws holding the can in the body, you will distort the can and make it tight on the pre-amp, just tighten the screws enough that it holds the can in the body, but not more. |
