Hey OFC! Hope the holidays were kind to everyone...
I was killing some time surfing on ebay (barely able to contain my GAS) when I came across this guitar... check out the strings  At first I thought it was some kind of glare on the treble strings but I supersized the images to reveal that these strings are indeed, multicolored...

Sort of reminds me of strings you might see on mariachi type guitars... Anyway, has anyone seen these kind of strings? I know it's not 'O' related, but you guys are cool like that ;)

P.S. I have an Ovation Legend Classic (1663) -nylon string, so it's sort of 'O' related...

Over last summer, myself and a fellow guitar picker, took a Mariachi class at Tarrant County College. It was taught by a local high school music teacher, who happens to be a PHD and musicologist. My friend even bought a guitarron (those big bass guitars)! The guitarron strings are multicolored like that, but they are harp strings! (not the same as those on that guitar, although I've seen them on-line somewhere...) They really give your fingers a workout, neither of us mastered the guitarron, although these young kids in the class were quite good at it.

Here's the best part - The teacher plays at a Mexican Food place here in town and my wife and I went to go check it out. The place is big and Bill was over playing in another part of the reaturant. So we were enjoying some margarita's at the bar when Bill made it over. HE WAS PLAYING AN OVATION!! I'm not sure what model it was. But he said he used it because it had the best projection of any of his guitars. He made it sound S-W-E-E-T.

Paul,
Great story!
The owner of that guitar just emailed me and told me that they're "Cecilia" strings... Apparently they're japanese and I could only find them on a spanish guitar website... Wound nylon, and he says they sound better than monofilament strings-they're fun to look at anyway :o
