Location: Philadelphia, PA | I purchased a used Ovation guitar with the following information on the label inside the bowl:
Model #1718
FLA-TP AAA+
Serial #8051908
When I check the code breaking chart, the information does not fit the guitar. This is a red flame top, shallow body, rosette multi-soundhole six string guitar with gold keys. Can anyone help with what series this might be, what year was it made, etc. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks. |

Location: The Shop | Do you have any pics? A 1718 isnt a shallow model #. Is it a super shallow or a mid depth? A 1718 should be a deep bowl. The other info seems like the color and the top grade, maybe. |

Location: The Shop | Man this one is taxing the old brain! If i remember right a 1718 is a deep non-cutaway legend.I dont think that it was a custom legend since that would have abolony inlay for a purfiling. We dont make many with those model numbers anymore, since you all know that the deep bowl is no longer a production model anymore all the model # have change over the years, it is hard to remember. |

Location: Tennessee | S/N seems bizarre ... should only be 6 digits if it's a USA model. 1718 is an Elite that was made from the mid-80's through the mid-90s. Rest of description fits this ... maybe chummles means epaulets not rosette. AAA+ flame top Elite ... sounds sweet.
What electronics are on this guitar, chummles? |

Location: SoCal | I checked a 1991 catalog. Elite, non cutaway deep bowl. OP 24 electronics.
But this doesn't fit the description originally given. Gotta see a picture. |
