I have a model 1612. What strings do you recommend I put on it?

It all comes down to . . .

. . . . "ice cream".

(Everybody likes something different)

Use the SEARCH function and type in "strings", and you'll get more opinions than you'll care to hear.

"Welcome!"

Welcome to the club!

Strings are a personal thing and what one person likes may not be what another likes. Some like light gauge cause it's easier on their hands and some use medium gauge strings due to their sustain and depth.

I started out with light gauge cause it was easier but have since changed to D'addario EXP19 bluegrass strings. I have a mix of both with the 1st and 2nd string being light gauge, and the rest at medium gauge. Took awhile to get used to but after some aching fingers, never regretted it. I get good sustain on the bass and mid, with easy playing on the lighter ones.
Then again, thats my liking. Try a few and hear a sound that will distinguish your playing style. Ultimately, that will be your favourite sting of choice. Hope this helps.
