I'll probably never get such a guitar, but in its own way is fascinating and would be nice on stage.

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | My mind is going a mile-a-minute with idea's. This is pretty cool, but I'm wondering how cost effective.
- Members of the audience texting messages to a terminal that displays on the guitar.
- Selling video ad space, can even work while Guitar is on it's stand.
- Changing color themes to match the lighting
- Do illusions like play with a backing track and take your hand away and have a video of your hand playing along with the music while you continue to fret with your left hand as if you were playing.
Some potentially fun schtick indeed. |

Location: Phoenix AZ | It would make playing in front of a mirror pretty cool. Very interesting concept.
The first thing that comes to mind would be a smaller video screen, hmmm maybe the size of an ovation pre-amp can wink wink, that scolls setlists, lyrics, chord progressions, etc.

Location: CA | Call me old fashioned, but I want my cellphone ONLY for phone stuff. I don't want to play music on it, I don't want to take pictures with it, I don't want to play games or check sports scores or hear cheery little song slices when I get calls.
Similarly, I recoil in horror (okay, pretend horror) at something like the video guitar. Besides being beaten with a forest full of ugly sticks, the thing is just wrong. It's like putting a water balloon launcher on a trombone or a bubble-blowing device on an accordian (hey, now we're onto something!) What's next, a built-in Ipod where you can email requests right into the guitar? Gimme a freakin break.
That said, I'm sure the video guitar will sell like donuts at a police convention.
FWIW, I asked a guy at GC the other day how those Gibbie 'self-tuning' Les Pauls/SGs were selling and he said not that well. Now that at least sounds like a worthwhile gimmick. |
