I have a Dean Markely single coil pickup on my cc01 Celberity. I run it through a pre-amp to a large amp. Works real good.

My question: If I go from light to medium strings, will it change any of the sound characteristics coming out of my amp? I know it will make a differance unplugged, but how about the magnetic pickup?

Thanks.

The short answer is "not much" Remember that a magnetic pickup will only see material which is ferric. Bronze or phosphor bronze has a much lower ferric content than nickel or steel, so your pickup is only reading the core of the wound strings, rather than the core & the wrap wire. If you want good plugged-in performance from a soundhole magnetic pickup, use electric strings. Imagine what a Strat or Les Paul would sound like if you strung it with Bronze strings
