Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Hi Folks,
Over the past year several folks have asked if we need assistance in any way with running this board and that has been greatly appreciated. Al and I try to do our best at keeping this site up to speed and expanding. It is somewhat time consuming, it does cost money, and as most of you know we still have a lot of plans and do not receive any monetary compensation from Kaman Music Corp for this project. We do it because it's fun.
In the near future I will be putting a page in the members area for anyone who would like to make a donation to this boards operation. This WILL NOT be a membership fee. I will also add a "sponsor" page to recognize those who have contributed.
After further thought, it seemed that folks should get something more than a thank you for a donation. In reality, "the membership" is what keeps this project alive and interesting. I know of no other board (music or otherwise) that actually gains this much momentum. A year ago, we were at 1 to 2 new members a day. This increased to 3-4 new members per day, and as of now we are at 5 new members EACH DAY!.
So it was decided that based on your donation, you would get Ovation Fan Club merchandise to adorn you, your office, your gig etc.. All those people that you wore out talking about Ovation will now have to "see" Ovation when they look your way. Below is a version of the logo that will go on the items, but I'd like to see some more suggestions for types of merchandise you would like to see. I have some excellent vendors that can get just about anything, at a good quality and reasonable price. Here are our suggestions so far, please feel free to add your own.

[*]Ovation Fan Club ID (sponsor or membership) Card.
[*]T - Shirt
[*]Golf Shirt
[*]Coffee (or Tea) Mug
[*]Guitar Picks

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Cool idea, I like bumper stickers although I never put them on my vehicles I have a huge collection... Thanks, good call. Also, the URL will be on the Logo someplace appropriate for the items. Maybe a simple oval sticker for the cases, racks, monitors, gig boxes etc... |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | i think that contributions are a good idea, and perhaps an ovation fan club store format would be a good idea to get them. it could be on the menu on the left of the page. that way someone like me might get several things instead of one and get a mug or t shirt for an ovation amigo too. jumbo multi purpose mugs and those insulated mugs with lids would be great for gigs. an ovation hat for us thin on top guys (ok! since moody pi knows the truth BALD guy) too. the bumper stickers are right on and multi use. how about an ovation shaped keychain?
i like the logo, but would like it even better in an oval background. more like the guitars. if you figure out a price structure, i'll "shop" and kick in up front to help get it started.
thanks for all of the unpaid stuff you and al do and thanks to all of the regular contributors who make this site "happen". i don't belong to or regularly visit any others.
tonight starts the high season weekend for me. 4 consecutive days with two double gig days. catch you guys late monday morning if i survive it all. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Musicamex, that's almost exactly how it's going to be set up, like a store, shopping cart and all. The oval and other shapes of the logo background will be whatever is appropriate to the item. I agree, silly to have a square logo on an oval sticker. :) The above is just a draft, each item will have to get it's own background, or maybe none in some cases. The words w/guitar are the logo. Keep those cards and letters coming. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | Both of those are Ovation items Bradley, you will have to contact them. I have had my Ovation keyring since they first came on the scene with Ovation's online club, I guess in the early 90's. I have used it everyday since (my car keys) and it still looks almost new. I would think they probably have a gaggle of these someplace. I also wonder if there are boxes of graphite guitar picks someplace too. |

Location: Warsaw, Indiana | Miles, Al, Thanks for all the great work on this site. I come into work early and start my day with a cruise through this site. I also do not belong or visit any other site dailey. This is a great site and feels like family. I think a baseball hat or key ring would be great. I'm a little protective ( some would call it anal) about my Adamas and would probably not put any stickers on the case. Keep up the good work! :) :) |

Location: Madison, Wisconsin | I would also like to thank the "SysOps" for the fantastic job they do on this board. I have been in their shoes and know how much work it takes to keep things going. This has to be the most sucessful BBS I've ever been a part of that didn't have paid SysOps. Every memeber should also be thanked for their participation.
It would be nice to be able to support the board with "stuff" but now you're talking about adding a whole-lot-of work. Do you guys have real jobs?
thanks again!! |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | "Thanks for the flowers" (compliments) as we used to say in the days of CB radio. Adding a shopping cart is just another set of pages to me, but I have been "coding" since the days of Batch jobs with punch cards.
As far as "black" t-shirts, I agree. Both black and white have been done. Golf shirts look great in black because they usually have some texture and collar etc. Also, although coffee cups look cool in black, they are pretty useless to tea drinkers, so we'll probably go with white on those.
Day job? Haven't had one in over a year. I decided work was bad for my health. I run a recording studio, do IT consulting, web page design, buy'n sell Ovation guitars :) , sell estate-type curio stuff, play with cats, feed the birds, empty kitty box, take out trash. :D |
