Location: Fort Worth, Texas | I have a Tokai amp bought years ago as a practice amp...
My friends just got new acoustic instrument amps and they both sound good:
Fender Acoustisonic, Jr.
Genz-Benz Shenandoah Jr. - we play a mandolin through this one... |

Location: Denver, Colorado | Fender Acoustasonic SFX. Does a great job in small to medium venues. Has a "stereo" sound feature. Not really stereo but, well, go try one out and see what you think. |

| I have a Trace Elliot Concert model but last year I got a pair of ‘Powered Speakers’. Once you’ve tried them I don’t think you’ll ever to go back. My nod goes to the JBL Eon 15-G2 but the MACKIE SRM450 is also hot.

Location: Cleveland, Ohio | I practice with a Roland Jazz Chorus 55 since it is small and sounds great with either accoustic or electric guitars.
My JC-77 (2x10) and JC-120 (2x12) also sound great with both. However my Roland AC-100 sounds the absolute best. Down rite angelic. |

Location: SoCal | I've got a Crate CA 60 and it's good. But I also like the Fender Acoustasonic Jr. I think it's sound might be a bit better. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | For acoustic I have always just sent it to the PA and hoped for a decent monitor mix.
For electric, depends on my mood. VOX Valvetronix is my current favorite. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | soundtech al1r for acoustic and electric. great sound and compact, but i have had two failures with it so far. it has a five year warranty but i dont think much of the techs or service dept. poorly informed and not very helpful.
pignose 60w tube amp for blues and rock. i wish it had more treble response. plenty of thick sounding bass, but i cant get those high register runs to cut through the mix the way i want.
weight and size are important as the gear is moving several times a week. the girls might get prettier, but all that stuff sure gets big and heavy at closing time.
what is the best amp anyone has found that gives big sound in a compact package???????? |

Location: Scotland | Wayne, I'll second that. The deluxe is a monster sounding amp considering it's 22 watt rating. As far as Silverfaces go, the deluxe was the only amp Fender didn't mess with, so right up until it was discontinued in the late 70's the spec was the same as the '65 Blackface. My main stage amp is a Blackface Deluxe reissue & I've just acquired a '73 silverface as a back-up. My acoustic amp is a Gallien Krueger 200MV, which is used as a monitor only. |

Location: Nova Scotia, Canada | Hi Paul, if your '73 Deluxe is right up to snuff, you may find you prefer to use that as your main amp and move the reissue to the backup position.

Location: Scotland | Wayne, The reissue sounds fine & is probably more reliable than the older amp, which I got for less than a third of the UK list price of the reissue. The '73 is a keeper, it's in great shape for it's age, so I don't want to gig it unless I have to. |

Small, great sound, adequate volume for me, not too heavy to tote, and classy looks. |

My 50th anniversary of graduation from high school is this year. Obviously, I will never go back to Ohio to see those old people I went to school with. My favorite amp, which I can't get , was my brothers 1960's or 1970's 200 watt Peavey that he played his fiddle through, a small compact amp with a tremendous presence and sound.

Location: Dallas | Greetings from "The Meanest Dad in Texas, with the shittiest amp". Peavey Rage158. But I ain't knockin' it too bad. Very adequate for a diaper baby player in the crib....and the eBay price was right. Plus I can teethe on the corners if it ain't plugged in (I drool a lot). I'd like to have a big stack of Marshalls, or a Fender Super Reverb.
Reagrds to all,
KD  |
