Location: Arkansas, U.S.A. | I just discovered the Ovation Fan Club and I think it's GREAT! I've been a fan of Ovations ever since '68 when I was a young guitar student in Connecticut. I used to drool over all of those cool Roundbacks-if they were good enough for Glen Campbell, they were darned sure good enough for me! I currently have a '69 K1234-4 Thunderhead, a '79 1615 Pacemaker 12-string, a '77 1262 Magnum II Bass, and a '95 1768 Elite. By the way, does anyone remember the name of the guitar shop in South Windsor, CT that carried Ovations back in the late '60s? |

PS I just saw on the news that a roof collapsed in NJ with some fatalities. I hope our NJ members are OK. What a snowstorm, you need some global warming right away! |

I've been through some of those severe snowstorms. My aunt was coming to visit us from West VA to Ohio in '56 for a Thanksgiving get together. Between the time she left home and arrived in Ohio, 2 feet of snow fell and she called my parents that she was stranded 30 miles away. I had just got out of the army and 2 of my brothers and I set out to rescue them. We headed in their direction and connected up with a snow plow, we ran ahead and pushed the stuck cars of the road so the snow plow could proceed and after a day of pushing and pulling cars out of the way we found ourselves at the farm house where my aunt was stranded. We all set in for the night, the stranded travellers broke out their food, and everybody had a great experience. (My aunt had a great ham that she contributed) In the morning, we helped the host milk his cows, (we were all farmers as he was), then as the weather cleared, we went home. The news media had a great story as there was many people stranded at that farm house.
I, as usual, got shafted. My younger brother walked 5 miles through this blizzard to see his girlfriend, my lady cousin spent hours saying how attentive I was at the farm house, and my now wife never forgave me for not walking through that wasteland to her house as I went home with my family after rescuing my aunt.
That's how these snowstorms play out. |
