Location: Houston, TX | Hey man, I watch it every Saturday at 10 pm. Believe me, you do not really want everything. Ever hear Dolly Parton do a cover of "Shine" by Collective Soul? Ok, ok, maybe that is one you want to see, if only for the shock value - kind of like watching a car wreck.
Do you get the show out there weekly?
I'm not a country fan, but I saw Brad Paisley on there one night and the guy just abused his Telecaster. Austin City Limits is where I first heard Bela Fleck about 8-10 years ago. Phish, Asleep at the Wheel, Bonnie Raitt, Keb Mo, Willie, Vince Gill (another under-rated guitar player), Billy Joe Shaver (his son played incedible lead with him, but committed suicide a couple years back), Albert King, Albert Collins, Old 97's, Nickel Creek, Kris Kristoffersen. Maybe you're right, there's a lot of good shit there.
Every 2-3 years they run this compilation/greatest hits show from the old days. The show has been running for 26 or 27 years now. I especially like the old clips of Townes Van Zandt from the mid-70's, and Bonnie Raitt from around '80. |

Location: Las Cruces, NM | I've taped a bunch of them. One of my all time favorites was a tribute to Townes Van Zandt with a whole bunch of great players and singers, I even taped the audio so I could listen to it (and steal the words for my own use). |

Location: San Bernardino, California | That's one of the best thing about it; the program exposes you to music you haven't heard before.
I feel sorry for the people that listen to one kind of music. They're cheating themselves. For example: I was taking a music class at the local community college and one of the requirements was to attend three different kinds of musical performances. One of the other students (aprox. 45 years old) went to a jazz restaurant and found out after all those years that she loved jazz.
It's the things that you miss that you regret the most. |

Missed that one, but I keep a blank tape at the ready, and if it shows up I'll tape it. I have those same people on "Country Homecoming" in the setting you describe and I taped that.
And I agree with BruDev about different types of music. It is all music, and I have seen some classical violin players play licks that I am sure to steal on my mandolin as soon as I can get them down.
