You can "jazz" almost anything. I do a jazz version of "Crazy" that people seem to like. As a matter of fact, Willie wrote a lot of jazz. "All of Me" comes to mind. And with Christmas coming...you can jazz almost any Christmas song. Fron, well, "The Christmas Song" AKA Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire, to White Christmas, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, even Silent Night. My favorite is, believe it or not, Santa Clause is Coming to Town. I always hated that song, so one day I decided to try to make it pretty. I believe it is my very best arrangement of all the songs I have ever arranged. |

One of the best renditions I've heard from a solo performer.
I'm sure the "O" he's playing has nuttin' to do with it! |

| Buy an Ella songbook and you'll have enough tunes to last several lifetimes. |

Location: Chicago | Great suggestions... I have all sorts of song books, but notice more and more that the GENERAL public is out of touch. So the challenge is to find tunes with some recognition factor, not just standard status.... The Vince Guaraldi Peanuts idea seems very much on track here: a Bill-Evans style bop gem that everyone knows and loves.... |

Blue Moon
It Had to be You
To name a few.
