i recently bought a 1612 custom balladeer from carr guitar on e bay. it was described as a 9.2 with only one hardly visable finish crack. i paid the buy it now price. when it arrived it had a few surface dings including one 3/4 x 3/8 and deep enough to cause related finish cracking. the neck retaining bolt was several turns loose and the guitar was shipped with the strings tight. some of the neck's heel bedding or filler was gone. the battery box cover was in the accessory compartment of the case and the battery was loose, banging around inside the guitar, hanging from the wires.

over the last 3 weeks, several e mails have been sent to CARR GUITAR and his solution was i keep the 1612 and for him to sell me yet another guitar at a "great price" or for me to sell the guitar on e bay and he would split the loss. getting him to reply at all was difficult. the guitar will make a good gig guitar once i have it set up, but it is far from what was described, and isnt what i paid for. i was willing to return the guitar for a total refund or to accept $100 in refund or in guitar related merchandise i could use. i thought that was fair.

how have any of you resolved this sort of issue. i think i might be stuck with this bad deal and had to leave my first negative feedback on e bay. be careful with this seller.

I have shipped several older ovations and the internal battery boxes came loose. That may not have been his fault.

Russ, Send him a bottle with a bad worm and your best wishes. He should just stand up to the deal, if it's bad, refund. End of story.

I recently had a similar issue, the seller agreed that it was NOT in the condition as claimed and offered for me to just return it. What you have sounds a LOT like a modifies bait'n switch. However, eBay is an AUCTION. The seller is in no obligated to live up to much of anything, but they usually do to insure they get good feedback.

i bought my elite from ebay. it was decribed as being a "9". when it arrived, the whole preamp and battery assembly was knocked out of it's mount and banging around inside the guitar. the seller claimed it happened during shipping and that he would file a claim with UPS. i told him if UPS didn't cover it, i either want a refund or for him to pay for the damage. he agreed. it now looks like he's gonna have to pay because UPS turned it down. i'm holding off on my feedback until he follows thru. if he decides to back out of his agreement, his perfect feedback will have a BIG blemish on it. EBAY is a double edge sword. you can find more choices than your local music store, sometimes at great prices. but you never really know what you're getting until it gets to your door. if you don't like what you see, your in for more aggravation than you were probably planning on.

It's been over a year... I "only" had $350.00 on the line... I sent it back. I paid the shipping. I left several un answered emails and said it was on its way. I explained why. I waited an ugly 10 days until I got my check. This was with an individual. I was pissed / bumbed... But I didn't want to have to live with it. I admit it's an all or nothing move. But it does put the ball in there court. If it's a business... They should send you your money back.

this carr guitar guy evidently sells allot of guitars, so i was surprised he shipped it tuned up, and could possibly miss the neck bolt being loose as he supplied the serial and model number. he represents himself as a guitar seller and missed the things anyone of us would have noticed in the first minute.

al, the battery box cover was in the accessory compartment of the case. that is whu the battery was loose in the guitar.

anyway, i guess i have another gig guitar instead of something to fondle and admire at home.

bill, i think i'll put a rat turd in the bottle instead of a bad worm. i don't think this guy can tell the difference anyway.

Oh the fun of ebay. I got a natural Ovation Viper awhile back that really upset me. The guy had great feedback, and had sent me lots of pictures of the guitar. He said it was in "excellent" shape for it's age. Well when I got it in, his version of excellent and mine were two different things. The pictures he had sent me were the top and back of the guitar. What he didn't mention was the side of the instrument. The sides had dents all the way around. Deep into the wood dents that really took away from the look of the guitar. It's a shame because I like my guitars in EXCELLENT shape! I contacted him without much luck, and later sold the Viper. I called the guy I sold it to and gave a complete description of the condition of the guitar. He bought it and was happy. I guess everyone had a version of what "excellent" is....Paul Hebert

paul, this guy is a guitar seller with over 400 feedback. he should have been a better judge. a 9.2 in guitars, gals or single malt whiskey tells me it's about as good as it gets. in a 20 year old guitar, with the exception of a few i bought from "the k-man" himself (perfect and better than i could have hoped for) a 9.2 should be at least in the top 10 out of 100 of the same guitars.

but you can't even trust priests anymore so i guess i am going to use it as a player since he didn't answer my last two e mails. i learned a lesson. pin down a guarantee before you bid.
