Location: Michigan | That 1771LX I posted about that I bought off the bay from that reputable music store showed up today.
After dealing with the peanuts here's what was inside.(see below)
I already called them, not really knowing what I had, they are sending me a shipping label(email)
and thanked me for being so honest.
Then I did my research. Dammit, kinda wish I'd have searched it out first. But then that wouldn't be me.

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | My ex has a Hirade. (Not this one with the Brazilian.) It is such a sweet sounding guitar. We bought it new about ten or twelve years ago. After using hard tension strings, he says the bridge is lifting. Of course it has a lifetime wauranty, but you know what happens when you replace the bridge. He has gone back to regular tension strings, but he won't have to worry about it much longer. I'm sending him that Manuel Cantreras C-5. |

Location: Michigan | Apparenly not when an honest guy gets the wrong piece and its not in their favor.
So it got picked back up today & went back.
I called their cust service person "Katie Burkes" and advised her it was on its way. Also told them how lucky they were a guy like me got this & not some scum bag.
I said "you know you could send me a Custom Legend to show your appreciation" and she said "sorry I don't think we could do that"
I said "I know and understand, but honestly how about shipping it overnight air since I've waited so long" and her reply was "she didn't think they could do that either"
Then I started getting a little po'd, I just said "I should have held it hostage, just sent me the new tracking # when its shipped"
I keep thinking to myself I believe in Karma.
I really trying to anyway.

Location: Colorado Rocky Mountains | Seriously, Wally did the right thing. I do still wonder what might have happened, if anything, had Wally just sat on it, said nothing, and awaited further contact and instructions from the manufacturer? You have to believe the warehouse has sufficient controls in place to (1) discover the inventory shortage, (2) identify how the error occurred, and (3) know who to go after to resolve the issue, but the question remains . . . |

Location: Capital District, NY, USA Minor Outlying Islands | There is no way I would've returned it, until I got what I wanted. Living in Brooklyn taught me.
One time I dropped off 25 LBS of laundry to be washed and it was supposed to be washed the next day. I went back, and it wasn't ready, and I was told it would be ready in 2 days and it would be on the house.
I show up 2 days later and my 25LBS of laundry had magically transformed into 75LBS. I pointed this out, and the clerk said they were giving me a discount. I said, what discount, I want my 25LBS of laundry, and I want what you promised me, free. They said, we didn't tell you that. I said, yes you did, and you made a mistake, you're giving me someone elses laundry plus my own. They said, we didn't make a mistake. I said, alright, after checking the bag to make sure my laundry was in it, and it was, "just so you know, I'm giving you one chance to make this right, if you give me what you promised, on the house due to your lateness, I will give you back, the other person's laundry, so he doesn't sue you. They said, no, we made no mistake. I said, do you realize what you're doing. They looked at me like I was a mad man, and I left. I got a lot of nice clothing, and those that didn't fit got donated to the salvation army. I never found out what happened to the guy whose laundry I took.
I'm sure they have insurance for this kind of thing. |

Location: closely held secret | I bought my 6758 from the same dealer. Soon as I opened it I noticed there was a black streak in the grain across the lower bout, about 2 inches wide. I tried going through the dealer to get it replaced. At first they acted very friendly, but never got back to me about factory authorization, I had to call and call, leaving messages. Finally got fed up, sent some pics to JB and asked his opinion. He emailed me a call tag the next day, picked me out a new unblemished one personally and got it back to me within two weeks.
Yes, Wally, Miles and Brad are right, you did do the right thing. I just get fed up with vendors who make mistakes and don't give any consideration to the fact that a dishonest man would have kept a $4000 guitar.
Once I tried to tell a woman at a Wendy's drive thru that she gave me back $2 more in change than I had coming. She started yelling at me, so I left. |

It wouldn't surprise me if someone like that would turn in a false claim to their insurance company, calling it a theft loss, for example. |

Location: Michigan | Well now the real story is coming out. Just got a phone call from Katie @ Sigler.
They don't have the guitar I won, the 1771LXCCB.
It turns out, the person the bought the "Hirade" is in Germany. Thats where my Ovation went, the story was the shipping labels got mixed up
After some other talk, have have my choice of waiting till this one comes back from Germany or
Oh did I mention the person in Germany "signed" for it today, but they haven't heard from them.
And now I'm finding out now it was an FRG guitar.
And they said since they lost a couple hundred on my sale if I don't want to wait I can have my choice of any other Ovation at their cost.
I started thinking, and at the moment I'm tapped out so I have no additional cash, but we worked out a deal, same price and this one is "NEW" and coming right from Ovation, a 2771LX in natural finish.
Now, we will wait another week & see.

Anybody ever get one drop shipped from Ovation ?"
So, now that we realize that they ain't shipping Hirade's from Connecticut...
And even though someone said that Sigler is a class outfit... :p
Just another eBarf sleazy outfit.
When I was looking for my 2058T 12-string, Sigler was one of the companies that said that they had one when they did Not! But they keep that listing up for a month after even Ovation didn't have any more. (I got one of the last ones) |
