I've heard of multiple personality syndrome, but this is going a bit too far. Dave

That is the weirdest yet. The extra soundholes are homemade, no doubt, but the rest of the guitar doesn't make sense. It appears to be a Country Artist but has a steel-string bridge. Very strange.

Hey Dave,

He thinks it's a Celebrity but it's not a cutaway
--------------------

He says it's a '79!! - Kind of reminds me of a Johnny Cash song....He got it "One piece at a time"....It's a '79,'80,'81,'82....He got it straight from the factory - cheaper that way!!
--------------------

Some folks just have to much time on their hands

This is just proof-positive that some people should NOT be allowed to own guitars!

I think this thing would be worth buying. Take of the tuners and toss the rest.

Shame on all of you for judging this guitar by it's looks alone! Maybe it sounds AWESOME. It would be a long shot, but who knows. Imagine the first person who ever saw an Ovation Balladeer way back when. "Yuk - It's got a round plastic back. Must be a piece of junk." How wrong they all were. Dave

But Dave, if it sounded awesome would you do it to one of YOUR guitars? Not trying to pick a debate, just a humorous (I thought) observation... :D

Just got home from Home Depough with the necessay drill bits. A few shots of JD and I should be ready to start the transformation of my Folklore. Umm, well, on second thought maybe I'll stick to using the drill bits for some other cause like fixing the kitchen drawer. Dave

I guess we know where this bunch of "progressives" stand when real innovation shows up. I'll bet none of you ever bought an American Motors car of the future that looked like an egg that had been set upon. (I can't remember what it was called).

Pacer, that's what it was, my deceased brother was an AMC dealer in the metropolitan town of Conneaut OH, and used to drag race an AMX, another AMC innovation a monster engine in an ugly car. Getting drunk and leaving burnout tracks in front of local landmarks was their way of making a statement. The AMX was a winner for a short time.

when I was a teenager I worked for a hi fi store and one of the co owners owned amx's he had about 6 of them. A friend that lived acrosss the street from me also lived there and wound up buying an AMX to restore. he never did and sold it out from under me without ever asking me if I wanted to buy it.
I am pissed still to this day!!!!

Ahhh ... The Pacer, The Matador, The Gremlin, The Hornet, The Concord, The Javelin. American engineering and marketing at it's finest. Check out this link.

Did you know that ADAM-12 drove an AMC police car. "One Adam 12, One Adam 12, see the man in the AMC Pacer". Check out the AMC police cars link. Really sweet 1975 Pacer Police Cruiser.

Learned to drive (and took my road test) in my older brother's '70 Javelin. Had MANY sexual exploits in the back seat of a red '72 Javelin owned by an old girlfriend named Louise (sigh!).

Had a good friend (who was a mechanic by trade) that owned a dark blue '70 AMX. That car ROCKED!!. Since it had no "ass end" (hence no traction), every winter it was garaged, the engine was pulled and totally rebuilt - EVERY Winter! For all I know, he still has it.

Hey Cliff, My Wife's name is Louise and she said she had many sexual exploits before I met her in the back seat of a red '72 Javelin. Does that make you and I almost related ??? Dave

PS - Do you remember the TV commercial where they fit a 6 foot sub sideways in the backseat of a Pacer?

Say what you will about Pacers, but I thought they were pretty cool cars! I had a friend at work that let me take his out for a spin. His came with stick-shift and it moved pretty good.
With their wide wheelbase and low center of gravity, they could "out-corner" a Porsche!!

Hey Dave, give my best to Louise . . . .

. . . . never mind, . . . I already did! :D

as you may or may not knows amc came out of rambler which came out of nash willys and jeep

their 6 banger was the same motor from the thirties in the amc cars with some updated stuff hung off them. They were rock solid motors that you could not kill. excellent on mileage and built to last.

BUT amc's had HORRIBLE front end. YOu always needed to replace tie rod ends and ball joints.
My sister had a rambler american painted bright yellow with racing stripes and it was a six banger and I could replace tie rod ends on it in my sleep. great car until my now brother in law cracked it up...

Verrry interesting!

This sounds like a crew that should be bidding wildly on the initially posted guitar. My brother also had the dealership for the Checker sedan, any back seat experiences out there in it's existance as a taxi, or otherwise. Sorry I asked.

Dave

I just visited that AMC site, sheer nostalgia, amazing.

this is probably the original slut head prototype, and i bought it for a possible 6061 t6 aluminum top experiment, or to resell here. this guitar will drive the locals crazy. it is muy mexicano. besides i need a few cases.
sorry i've been off line for so long amigos. body rebuilding and a bunch of on going construction prompted by the hurricane and a music schedule that didn't slow down very much has had me hunting for sleep time. i checked e bay for the first time in months this morning and bought the barf on toast despite reading the posts, mainly because the toast looked like whole wheat and the barf must have been induced by the worm in the bottom of a mezcal bottle. besides my brother lives in phoenix. no shipping and he can bring it to me.

or maybe i'm working to hard and need to stop chasing the worm. i'll let you know exactly how bad this guitar is when i get it. i knew as soon as i saw it there would be no less than what i found here in reference to it. anyway, i've had bar tabs bigger than this so----------

yeah paul, it's me again. i had some stuff done to get the back thing more under control. has it really been that long? that land of manana syndrome must really have me under its spell. i have been very busy with the music and construction. tomorrow the roof of one our houses comes off (everything) and a new one must go on before the rains start. i'll bet your really jealous of my genetic mutation ovation. makes you wonder what those guitars do in conn after the lights go out.

I love the way these threads wander. About the time I graduated high school, '71,'72 the State Troopers here in Alabama were given a few Javelins. They were prized cruisers and the Troopers loved them inspite of the taunts... "Heyyyy Jaaaaveliiiin".

Hey Russ

Good to hear from you, I thought about you a week or so ago when our Las Cruces sunday Sun-News had a travel section on Puerto Vallarta. It was interesting, but I have no idea whether it was correct, the paragraph about expatriate Ovation extremists threatening the local status quo was interesting, but they spelled your name wrong.

Bailey

I'm sure everybody is waiting as I am, to hear how this artistic creation sounds, (there isn't a poster here who didn't want to bid on it, all those nostalgic references to AMC's reveals a lot).
