Location: Oakton, VA | Here's what happened to my "bridgeless" 1972 Ovation guitar since last week's post.
I took your advice and called John Budny at Customer Service. He convinced me to pack it up and send it to the factory.
The day it arrived, Customer Service called with the news that since I'd sent in the warranty card some thirty years ago, the repairs are covered. They're installing a new top and bridge, gratis.
That certainly was a pleasant surprise.
Unfortunately, the new top and bridge assemply is thicker than the original: the repaired guitar will no longer fit in its original case. (Very possible, as the fit was as snug as any intrument I've owned.) I ordered a new case. This, along with factory setup charge brings the guitar back home at just over $150.
Good karma indeed.
Boys and girls: remember to send in those warranty cards and heed the advice of the fan club.
Later,

I've been doing that for years (filling out the warranties) and nothing that great has ever happened, but I'll definately keep it up. That is a good luck story, keep us informed on the follow up. | |
