Location: Houston, Tx | I finally found the 12 string I have been waiting for and I bought it on ebay. I have been playing a 1598ME for a while, choosing it over my 12 string Martin and someone told me that if I really wanted the best sounding guitar, I should look for an older Adamas. I found a 6 string 1687-8, a 1979 model according to the chart I found here at the fan club, and I thought it was awesome. My heart belongs to 12 strings so I kept looking, never thinking I would find an older Adamas cutaway. But there it was, with all of the carvings, and I had to have it, even if I had to sell my first born, (she's too high maintenance anyway). The seller wasn't the original owner but knew the original owner who traded it in about 3 years ago. The original owner told the seller that the guitar listed for about $3000.00, but seller didn't know the year it was originally purchased. Seller couldn't give me alot of background on the guitar, only that the stereo electronics weren't original. I'm a novis on Adamas history. I don't know if maybe this is a new old model, like a remake using the carved features or if this is an original older Adamas. I haven't seen any older Adamas cutaways. The inside label says model number "1588-5", then "86", then their is a signature that I can't make out. I took pictures of the label and will email to anyone interested in helping. If anyone can tell me about this guitar, I would really appreciate it. I would like to know what the numbers mean and who signed it. This guitar is my new best friend and I would like to learn as much as I can about it. Here is the ebay listing address.

Location: Zion, Illinois | I'm not sure what the 86 means, but on the reference page they talk about the early Adamas (or Adamii) and they always gave an number they called "Guitars Natural Frequency Resonance". I wonder if that is what the 86 means.
Still, it must be a fantastic 12-string.

Location: Las Cruces, NM | I think some of those features were discussed on the board at some past time, I cannnot think of a good search phrase to find them. The carved head and stereo output ring a faint bell. Beautiful guitar!! |

Location: Scotland | The 2-digit suffix is the guitar's fundamental frequency. The early guitars were signed by Charlie Kaman, this is a later one so the signature will be Bill's. The controls are definately not original. I guess this would have had an OP24 |
