Just a note, Chuck, Norsey, I'm sure you have bought more car than was neccesary, how many times have you regretted it? Money is inedible, does not provide any moisture if you are dying from thirst, and generally the cost is forgotton when you acquire that "keeper" that you won't see again.

You gotta pass on this Legend. I emailed the seller, and they gave me a mile long list of all the problems it has. Believe me Chuck, this guitar is NOT for you. I'm only bidding on it out of the goodness of my heart to help the seller out.
Wouldn't you be more interested in a nice Elite, or perhaps a Custom Legend 12?
Norse(What is your ebay name, I'll try to avoid getting into a bidding war with you...at the same time, I would absolutely love to own this Legend)man1 |

Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | Chuck, brother, look in the member gallery at my meager collection. Picture how this 12 Legend would look nestled between those two lonely O's. It's the twin sister of my Legend 6 string.
Can you with a clear conscience come between the uniting of this Ovationary trio Chuck? As you look at the photo, can'tyou hear them calling for their long lost 12 string sister? Lookclose...is that a tear falling from my lonely Legend's headstock?
Don't do it man! As Abraham Lincoln said, we must be governed by the better angels of our nature. Or as Glen Campbell said..."You've Got to Try a Little Kindness".

Location: Waterloo, IL | Right now my Balladeer is feeling very lonely in the house. The only other guitar there is an old Sears Special that I received many years ago. I think this Legend 12-string would be great company for it. As long as I can keep the wife from finding out about it too soon...

Location: Back in the Valley of the Sun Mesa Az. | Actually I have bid on the guitar. Seriously though Chuck, let me know your ebay handle. If it comes down to the two of us, I will not force the issue, hence costing one of us more than it should. There seems to be no shortage in nice guitars coming down the pike on ebay... just a shortage on cash to buy them!
Good luck Chuck, I hope one of us are fortunate enough to get this guitar at a fair price.

| To Whom It May Concern:
I am presently the high bidder on the Legend 12, and am interested in the guitar at the current bid price. However, my current bid of $ 401.00 is my maximum bid, and I will not be bidding any higher. Just thought you might like to know.
Good luck !

If you find an auction bid your max and hope for the best.
This type of interaction does no good for the bidder or seller.
please stop these types of posts. |

I have very strong opinions on this subject. I frequent another guitar board where this is common practice and at one point they went to the extreme of posting all members e bay bidder names to make sure no one bid against each other.
IMHO this is wrong. It is price fixing or bid fixing and it is just as bad as having a shill bidder. If you were at a real auction and caught cheating you would be banned from participating in auctions.
I run many auctions on e bay, I also go to many "real" auctions. I feel that if the integrity of the deal is not in tact then it is tainted.
I have no objections to anyone contacting each other privately but this sort of discussion on the OFC will not be tolerated.
I don't want to come off hard nosed here but I do want to nip this one right away so that we are all at an understanding. |

You didn't come off "hard nosed", and you have a very valid point. I just didn't look at it the way you have explained it. Now that I have heard your rationale to support your position... I agree with it. I didn't set out to potentially hurt a seller, but I understand how this type of communication over an auction could very well do just that, no matter if it was intentional or not.
No problems hear Al, I respect your position, and it won't happen again.
Peace Bro,

p.s. and I thank you and Miles for your time and efforts in keeping this a quality board! |
