Do you guys tune down your 12ers or ride them at tension 440?
what is the best capo for Adamas 12s. I have a Kuyser, but it doesn' seem to want to clamp pure. |

Location: SoCal | Kyser's don't seem to work on Adamas 12's. I use a Shubb on mine, clamped down pretty tightly.
As to tuning down, I haven't so far, but in a couple of months, I've got an old GC 12 coming my way, and I'm going to string it with heavier strings and tune down to a C or A. I've heard from good sources that this is a wonderful combination. |

Location: NJ | The Kysers don't work too well on my Ultra 12-string either. I'll have to look into a Shubb. |

Location: NJ | I would assume you'd need a Shubb 12-STRING capo. |

Location: So. Cal. | I've been using Shubb (deluxe, the one with the wheels) for 6, 12 and classical for as long as I can remember. The greatest thing about the Shubb is you can fine tune the amount of pressure and angle the capo to fit the particular guitar/strings. The rubber clamp is also closer to the human flesh as far as softly but tightly holding the strings down. I used to tune my 12-strings to a whole step down, now I tuned them to all to concert pitch and it didn't seem to make them any harder to play.
Just me and my Adamas! |
