Location: Sweden | Hi, I'm Andrew and I'm a brand new Uk2 owner. Just browsing thru the topics I've already learned that my guitar is a newer one.
It seems that a lot of you guys are quit pleased with the guitar.
My question are:
What market was the guitar made for? I mean was it a budget guitar or a more expensive guitar.
When you say that you like it what do you compare it with?
All I can say about it so far is that the mics are great. They really blows my Gibson Sg mics of the roof. And the sustain is really awesome. I didn't see that coming when I traded it with my Squier strat. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | andrew the ukII was only made for a couple of years. yours probably has the mother of pearl block inlay. early ones had "bow tie "inlay and the last few has dot inlay.
it was the high end electric in the ovation, though a few ultra gp's were produced and they command the highest resale price among the ovation production solidbodies.
the pickups are really hot. the coils have 10,000 winds.
you really couldnt compare a ukII to anything else i know of. they are unique in many ways and in my book are as good as a production electric gets in this price range especially.

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I don't know if they had a specific market intended or what it was, but it certainly was to be competition for the two humbucker category.
I have a lot of info at www.baronaudio.com/collection that you may want to look at about the UKII. I didn't like it at first, but I didn't really give it a fair shake as I initially thought it was just another 2 pickup guitar. But as you have noticed, when you a/b it against other guitars you find it has more sustain, hotter pickups with a wider range, and the guitar is lighter. To top it off the series/parallel switches give you extra combinations of sound not found on similar guitars.
I think in the reference section may be the pricing at the time. I recall it was reasonably priced, especially if you compare it to anything else in the same class. |

Location: puerto vallarta, mexico | the lighter thing miles mentioned is important, especially gigging with a bad back. when i was checking out amps for a couple of hours in california i had a les paul "hanging" on me and i really noticed the difference.
if the ultra gp is for queens of the stone age, the ukII is for kings of the space age.
i dont know how much anyone else plays theirs, but my ukII is super reliable. i gig with mine, sometimes up to 20 hrs in a week, in tropical coastal conditions, and it has never failed me. it is literally as reliable as a straight acoustic. |

Location: Sweden | Oh well, I rehearshed with it last night and I wasn't so pleased with it. The neck is a bit to hard compared to the Sg and a bit to thin.
I had a Washburn The Idol
for a couple a years and the Uk2 neck is a little similar to the Idol.
So, I'll problably sell it after the summer. I tried out the links for valueinfo but I didn't find anything. (gbase, ebay)
So, what's it worth? How much did you pay for your Uk2?
I got mine in a trade so Ihope it's at least 250 euro (300-350 $) |

i dont doubt you will get your money and more out of it. paul t might know more about trade and taxes in europe. if it was here i wouls buy it as i have people looking for them. put it on e bay maybe. |

Location: Sweden | Well no the setup was a bit poor acctually. Hm, about the hard neck. I guess if you combine the thin neck + ebony fretboard it makes the neck a bit stiff.
Maybe it would have a total diffrent feeling if it had a rosewood fretboard.
No, I don't think I'll put it out on Ebay. I'll probably try to sell it here in Sweden first. |
