My Standard Balladeer 12 has a glossy top, but the neck and peghead are the satin finish...the one that really looks almost unfinished. Is this finish as protective as the glossy ones? Since it feels bare, I have this nervous feeling when I play it that clammy hands may send perspiration right into the wood. I guess I'm overreacting, but does this finish require any different care? My Balladeer 1111 has a gloss black neck/head which looks like it was built yesterday, it doesn't make me uneasy to play it no matter how hot the weather.
Thanks in advance for the info...

It was discussed here on a previous post and I THINK there's something mentioned on Ovation's webpage about periodically wiping the neck down with oil.

I'm sure there's someone else here that can be more specific.

The owners manual recommends three waxes:

>Trewax
>Lundmark's Clear Paste Wax
>Butcher's Bowling Alley Paste Wax

I found and use the Lundmark's. It applies easily and a 1 lb. can will last for years.
