Sumpin I was just ponderin
Is there anything to this, I mean we know Ultras have foriegn made parts assembled in USA ?
Balladeers etc will be made overseas, as have Clebs and such.
Did all this happen with the Fender aquisition of Kaman, was it part of the plan prior, was there a specific production date start/change/end of this and can you look it up. Or at least will you be able to in the future.

Well the reason I ask as I've already seen it and it could be good for selling a used guitar I guess - advertised as "Pre-Fender Balladeer" available....
I mean I know it matters with Winchester rifles as "pre-64" They bring alot more but there was a design change.

So will this mean anything when describing an Ovation model in conversation or for sale ?

I doubt anytime soon that the moniker "pre-fender" will have any significance in describing an Ovation guitar. I guessing in 1947 a "pre-war" D-45 didn't mean a hell of a lot either. Maybe fifty years from now.

I would think the best description is still "USA Ovation" or "Import Ovation".

IMO... Probably, the plans to move some production overseas was a topic of discussion long before the sale to Fender happened. I'll bet that there are products that were in R&D pre-Fender still waiting for release.

I think the changes, if there are going to be any, are yet to be seen by us.
